The only thing I notice now is the new pickups come with an adjustable curvature, so I assume they can be made to lie flat, something the older ones could not do.
I gave up on my IVL Steelrider due to intermittent problems and sold it and am looking for a replacement. _________________ Sierra S10 (three!), Peavey 112 and 115, Benoit dobro, Beard Model E dobro, Beard Roadophonic, MSA Superslide, Dean Nickless custom dobro |

The string spacing is wrong on the Roland pickup for pedal steels. It may fit some lap steels, I'm not sure. There have been some of these adapted to steels, which I was going to do, but I'm about to give up on the idea. I think I'll stick with my RMC pickup equipped 6 stringers, and my GR33 or GI20/XV-5050 module. It's just a little inconvenient switching back and forth, but I get an excellent sound with the setup I have. If it works, why fix it. _________________ Darvin Willhoite

I thought the string spacing issue could be solved by mounting the midi pickup at an angle? _________________ Sierra S10 (three!), Peavey 112 and 115, Benoit dobro, Beard Model E dobro, Beard Roadophonic, MSA Superslide, Dean Nickless custom dobro |

To work properly, the pickup needs to be mounted as close to the bridge as possible, according to Roland. If mounted at an angle, at one end or the other, it would be quite a distance from the bridge, and this would probably effect the workings of the pickup. Due to the placement of most pickups on pedal steels, there's not room to mount a MIDI pickup between the normal pickup and the bridge. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
