In presenting a program with an Hawaiian theme should "White Silver Sands" ever be included in your repertoire?
From reading, I gather that it is a popular song. To me it sounds as if it would fit.
For those who live in HI or frequent the islands, do you sometimes hear this song over there, from Hawaiian groups?
Since HI has been part of the U.S. for some time now, could "White Silver Sands" now be considered "part" of the music of HI,
although the composition is from the mainland? |

I have always love Don Rondo's hit version of this song from the 1950s, but have never heard of any Hawaiian association. It seems to fit by title only---the lyrics are about Argentina and speak of gauchos and pampas. Can't recall a steel guitar version, but would like to hear someone try it. There isn't one listener in a hundred who is going to be familiar wtih the lyric, so if it fits melodically, why not? |

Didn't the Bill Black Combo have a hit with this tune? |
