I bought a pair of these with subwoofer for PA application for the new group I am playing in.
I already had a Mackie powered PA head (PPM 808S).
I did a trail hookup and noticed a good bit of white noise (hiss). I had the level on the speakers about midway with the mike/line switch unengagged. I am also using an adapter to convert the XLR to 1/4 phone jack to accomodate the speaker cables that I have. I did not use the high to low Z coverters (should I?)
My question is are these compatible since the speakers have built-in power amps, or should I consider a separate mixer (unpowered)?
I am certainly no PA guru, and need help from those with experience.
thanks,
Lefty (Richard Born)

Lefty, If I understand this correctly, the speakers are powered. I believe you should be coming from the amp out on the power mixer to the speaker. This send a low voltage signal to them they want to receive.

Thanks Curtis, they are powered speakers. After reviewing the mixer manual I believe you are correct. I will try it out today.

That seemed to solve the problem. I still hear hiss when the power is up high, but that may go with the territory. From what I have read online, they have more hiss than the comparible Mackie powered speakers.
thanks ,
