Gene is still touring. He was in NC last month.
Keep your eyes open and he will come close to see
him again and he and the band are just as good
as ever. |

Gene always does a great job. Here's another interesting clip of him with Steve Palousek on steel and Tony Booth playing bass and singing harmony . . .

My guess is that this was from the mid 80's - what a sound! |

I caught a little of the GOO coming home from a gig last night. Man, was I surprised to hear Gene on there. He sounded as good as ever. |

Thanks Wally, on the right-side of the second video is a third version of "Farewell Party", with Janie Fricke, Barbara Fairchild, and Lorrie Morgan watching him sing. Also, Weldon Myrick. |

Gene is the REAL DEAL,Each time I hear Farewell Party, reminds me of a singer I used to work with[the old boy was a pretty good singer]But ever time we did that song I would cring we he sang that last line.ALWAYS flat,he tried to do it like Gene, but could'nt make it.Finnaly talked him into doing that last line an octave lower, was a little bit better.DYKBC. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. Mickey:
Thanks for posting that clip. I was playing my JCH guitar on that taping which I believe was the Tommy Hunter Show from Canada. Not for sure about that though. That would have been around 1985. I remember playing Cleveland TN a few times too.
The fellow playing piano on the clip is Joe Eddie Goff. He came to work with us with Gene in June of 1978 and still works for him. He has recently had a battle with cancer so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I spoke to Gene about a week ago and it seems Joe will be alright but I don't know if he's doing the road for a little while so as to heal. Joe is about 70 now. A good guy too.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson |

Chris, the sound on that first video ranks as some of the best steel I have ever heard. Great sound, great phrasing. Thanks for the information. |
