I just recently completed my course for a Texas Concealed Handgun License....are there any other steeler's out there who have one???
One of the many reasons I got mine was, due to the fact of playing out late and carring $4000 and more of musical equipment in your vehicle..and for overall personal safety.

I have mine. First got mine when the law was enacted here in Arizona in the 90s. I use to carry everyday, but now I only carry when I am going out late, have to do bank duties, and if I am going to the range.

In my opinion, coming from living in a fascist/communist country for 7 years where you had no right to defend yourself its the smartest law on the books.

Texans have Suzanna Hupp to thank. I had just moved form San Angelo to Arizona when that happened.

I have two permits; 1 for Oregon; 1 for Washington.

It WOULD make much more sense to have them uniform in all states. Too much to expect from our current crop of state legislators.

On the Texas Department of Public Safety website it tells you all the states you can carry in "legally"...I know off hand all the states that border Texas you can carry in. As far as I read though, in the State of Texas, you can carry a firearm in your car without a license.

One thing that sparked me is when I read my friend Jody Sanders post about what happend to him on his way home late one night from a gig. It is posted under the Stories section I believe.

Right now in Texas, the wait is over 3 months to get your license bag because of the back log. There has been a 40% increase in applicants for their CHL since August of 2007.

I do. I use it when I go into bad areas. Very infrequently because I do not put myself in those situations, but if I ever need it I have it. Michael D, you crack me up.

My wife and I both have CCW's for our Taurus 38 Specials. Like with Bro. Matthew, we came from a Communist country (California). Our 2nd Ammendment rights are upheld here in Nevada.

I've got one too, and have had it a long time. I also have up-to-date retired law enforcement credentials which allow concealed carry in the USA (almost everywhere), as long as your qualification is up to date, and I'm not. Crazy thing - In FL, the conceal carry permit doesn't signify proficiency. On the other hand, if I wanted to carry using only my retired law enforcement credentials, I'd have to qualify at the range periodically. Go figure. Another even crazier thing - The US Senator that sponsored the bill allowing retired law enforcement officers to carry throughout the USA is one of the most liberal Senators in Congress - Patrick Lahey (sp?) from Vermont.

interesting that this came up. I'm picking up my 38 tomorrow morning. You can have them in your car or house in Florida without a permit. Larry

I have a book, that has complete details of ALL STATE requirements for concealed carry. To assume one state's rules/reg's are consistant with another would be a dangerous mistake.

Everyone should have one of these books. It's listed on the internet. It's about $16.00 and it's updated annually.

I wouldn't leave home without it!

I thought about it because of the late night drives back from the dance halls in the hill country.
Texas had a law on the books "he needed killing".
Google that phrase if you don't believe it. I better pass 'cause if there are to many folks like me out there and the law is put back on the books there might not be enough drummers left to put a band together.
