Can anyone help me identify this showbud?
I have the chance to buy it. It has 3 pedals and 3 knees, ten strings. I want to know what you guys think the value is. Is it a maverick with extra knee pedals added? Thanks.

That's a Pro 1. It looks like the person put on a new fret board, but everything else looks original from those photo's. Would be nice to see a picture of the underside and the changer.
A single neck Pro 1 is approx $1k.
Cheers!

Thanks. I have asked for a pic of the underside.
Would this be a good guitar for a beginner? |

Yeah, that's a great guitar for a starter. The A and B pedals with the D lever (E's lowered) will keep you busy for a LONG time.
Cheers!

It doesn't say "Pro 1" because it's a 6139 which only has the one knee lever. That was the designation in those years. It's the same as the Pro 1 without the decal. It's not hard to upgrade it at anytime. If you can get it for 1k, you'll be getting a pretty good deal.
How much is he asking for it? _________________ The only thing better than doing what you love is having someone that loves you enough to let you do it.

That's an early square front, about 1975. It has wide pedals and the older pickup with the screws underneath. The dustcatcher fretboard is standard for this time period, and is more than likely original. I had a 6139 identical to this one except for the pickup and colour. Mine was blonde.
This guitar, as RC said, would be a steal at $1,000. I paid $1,600 for my 3+2 6139 about two years ago, and it was worth every penny. On Ebay, that guitar would go for between $1,200 and $1,500, maybe more. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

I paid $1700 for mine less than a year ago and wouldn't part with it for the same money today. Of course mine has 4 knees and that does increase it's value somewhat. _________________ The only thing better than doing what you love is having someone that loves you enough to let you do it.

Nice guitar, figure about $150.00 to add one knee lever. That guitar will get you all the way from beginner to pro.
I have a black one, probably the same year, it is now a 4X5 with Coop super fingers. |

Well, I was too late. It already sold by the time I saw it advertised. Guy was asking $950.00. He listed it last night it was gone this morning.
I will say the pedal steel is rare to find for sale privately other than this board, and when I do see them, they are scooped up quick.
This guy obviously priced it to sell quick. I wasn't going to jump on it unless I did my research first. Oh well, I am sure there will be more opportunities to come along.
Thanks for the advice. |

Well, that's too bad. $950 is a steal for that guitar. Someone got a good deal. One thing I've learned with Sho~Buds is that you'd better grab 'em at prices like that because chances are someone else is looking too.
I'd say you'll see that guitar on Ebay soon, going for way more. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

Brian, you need to do some studyin' up by lookin' through the "For Sale" section of the Forum, and "completed items" on ebay. If I'd had the chance to buy that axe for $950, the sale would have been instantaneous! Incredible price for an incredible guitar! RED! Oh my oh my! |

I saw that early this morning and called and left a message. Then I told my wife I was going to buy another steel. She looked at me and grinned and said, "That's nice." How did she know it was already sold? |

Not to rub salt in a wound but I agree whole heartedly. I recently scored a wonderful Rack and Barrels Blondie for $650.
I'll buy every nice Pro 1 I can find for $950 if only for resale if nothing else. _________________ The only thing better than doing what you love is having someone that loves you enough to let you do it.

Ya, it's worth throwing on your credit card if you can, enjoying it for a while, then flipping it. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars
