I've searched the forum and google but haven't found any info on the transition of Sol Hoopi's C# minor seventh tuning to the tuning still called C# minor 7th that has added a fifth in the form of the third string tuned to B instead of the G# . I know Santo Farina played this tuning and probably other guitarists who had one or 2 more strings than Sol ?
Anyone willing to share/post anything they might have on this ?
Was there ever much instructional material for the C# min. 7th tuning back in the day ?
It's like an E6 but without the third ( G# ) on top .

Kevin, Im not sure of the tuning your referring too (Santo), but it would seem that the C#minor is the genesis for the E13 tunings.
I use this one pitched in F. Hi to Lo EC#G#F#DBG#E,I call it the Noel Boggs 13th, and I use it instead of the Mcauliffe tuning because I have the top part of that tuning on my 6th tuning.
You may want to contact John Ely. John would probably have some ideas on instructional material.
I agree there seems to be nothing out there for 8 string 13 type tunings.

Hi Lee and thanks for chiming in . I tried the aforementioned E13 but after muddling around it I kind of gave up . It's probably easier for me with the C# mi 7 tuning Hi to Low E C# B G# E C# B E with the E triad on the 345 strings instead of eliminating the B and adding the F# instead . I remember with the E13 I knew there were E9 and E7 chords and D triads and a Dmaj7 as centers but that's about as far as I got .

Kevin,
The C#m7th tuning has been one of my favorites for several years.
When a T-8 Stringmaster was my main guitar, that tuning was on one of the necks.
I also had an E for the top string as well as on the other two necks.
