Re; Peavey BW 15" speakers......I know SB = shallow basket and DT = deep throat

But what is the significance of the model numbers?

1501.....1502......1504........1505

Peavey explains them all on their website, and also has spec sheets and charts for easy comparisons.

Well, not all of them. The 1501 is not mentioned.
Interestingly, in searching for BW info over the past few years, I don't find any tech specs. for the 1501 except in this link:
http://peavey.com/support/technotes/misc/blackwidow.cfm and then only for the DT model. This info may have been printed before the introduction of the SB though. I don't know.

I haven't seen them on the online products page either or in the print catalogs although many other models are shown. Never understood why the omission Question Oh Well

Peavey used to have all this data on their website, but it seems they've deleted it for some reason? At any rate, I still have a hardcopy of all their spec sheets. You can email me with any specific questions.

You may be right Donny.

The link that I have provided has good info on the 1501-4DT, 1203-4 guitar steel guitar speakers and other models including the ones mentioned by Tony with descriptions of their applications and Thiele-Small data most gearheads require.

I recall reading an article by Mike Brown somewhere on their site that explained the differences in the DT and SB material and construction and how they determined the SB was an overall better speaker for steel guitar applications.
