Great news! What a fine player and a fine gentleman. Is he no longer playing one of his home-built steels? He showed me one of his changers that he had built, using only simple hand tools. It worked great. The keyhead on his guitar was unique. It's a 12 string guitar, but instead of two rows of 6 tuners, there were four rows of tuners, 4-2-2-4. That kept the strings all lined up nice and straight as they came over the tops of the rollers.
As I recall, his main tuning is A6, that could be changed to E9 with a lever. He also had some way of moving it into a B6 tuning. _________________ Lee, from South Texas - Down On The Rio Grande

Lee, Ora still plays his custom guitar that he has used for many years. Right now it is undergoing some repairs. A few years ago he and Roy Thomas customized an S-12 Pedalmaster to Ora's specifications regarding copedent, pedal and lever set-up. He has been using that guitar recently. I have some pictures of Ora behind the Pedalmaster that I will post when the Forum website is able to take the upload. |

I also just found out a few weeks ago. Evidently he was in an assisted living facility after his wife passed. I lost contact with him. Called his phone several times but no answer. Miss him a bunch. |
