Worked the San Marcos festival Sat. the 15th of May.
Got to town on the 13th. I flew in with Skeeter Elkin, Texas Playboy and piano man who recorded with Bob Wills in the 50s. Everywhere we went, Skeeter sat in and wowed 'em! I got to sit in with Jim at the Senior Center, with Cornell Hurd at Jovita's, with Rick McRae at Las Palomas, with Bert Rivera at Artz Bar-b-q- house. Herb Remington played with Johnny Gimble in San Marcos. Fiddler Elana James of Hot Club shared some tunes with Johnny. I had a great time until Friday night when the scorpion stung me. Went to the ER. I was ok. They treat scorpion stings with Prednisone which I was already taking for my asthma, so I was good to go, HA!
Anyone else make to to Austin the week of May 13 thru 16? |
