Topic: Another order for a Rittenberry |

I was passing through Nashville last Saturday and met Bobbe at his shop. I happily handed him my down payment, ordered a black Rittenberry S-10, and now the wait begins.
I had been wanting another steel for some time now and thanks to all the positive feedback on the Forum concerning the Rittenberry, I am sure I have made a wise choice. The videos by Bobbe didn't hurt anything either, but then again that guy could make any steel sound good!!

Hey Jeremy,
I think Bobbe said the wait time was 4 to 5 months. Yeah, a little long, but I have waited 58 years for one so I can hang for a few more months and I am sure the wait will be well worth it. Go ahead, take the plunge, so ya wait a little, what have you got to loose? A few months........but, you will have a brand new Rittenberry and from what I have heard, it just don't get any better than that. Call Bobbe and get er done!

| Wally, I think 4 to 5 months is not that unusual..most custom steels take that long or longer. The pressure on these one man shops must be enormous..wonder how much nightly sleep they get? |

yep - 4 or 5 months doesn't sound too bad at all ...
better than the 4 or 5 years wait for an Anapeg.
I agree, those one-man shows really do have their work cut out for them. Hats off ..... |

Congrats on the purchase of your Rittenberry.
I bought the one off the forum a few weeks ago,
as my 1st psg to learn on.
Larry Behm encouraged me to do so.
I don't have much experience to compare with,
but I'm pretty motivated to learn/play this guitar.
They have great tone and Larry's lessons are easy for me to play! |

I really like mine.
I heard it for the first time yesterday on a live CD...great tone. Full on the bottom, smooth on the highs, with great clarity. I was running straight to a Nashville 400, amp reverb only, and was very pleased with what I heard.

I received my new black SD-10 Rittenberry a few weeks ago. I owe you Rittenberry fans, and especially Gary, a big apology for not posting photo's of this beauty on the Forum. I have moved since, been gone for a week to class, and generally have my life in turmoil right now. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it! This guitar is a dream to play, the three times I have actually been able to set down and fly it. Gary, you are a wonder worker with your hands and and ideas. I marvel at your abilities and talents. I promise some photo's soon. Congratulations to all who have discovered the Rittenberry and any other guitar Gary has put his magic to. You have the Rolls Royce of guitars!

I had the chance to talk with him on the phone last week.
Its great to know the "history" of my guitar.
I plan to post pictures soon on my website, along with info: type fo wood used; hard rock maple ( 13 years ) color: emerald, etc.
Gary was very patient with my "rookie" questions.
Its very unusual to talk to the manufacture of an guitar or amp these days.
Tom King with Atomic amps, is another person who designs the amps. He is accesible, too.
The more I attempt chords, scales and runs all along the neck of the Ritt, the more I'm impressed with the consistency of tone.
Gary's Ritt's play exactly like he said they would.
For my 1st PSG guitar, its worth the money.

Steve,
I traded my Carter Starter & some cash for my LaGarritt...and I never looked back. I spoiled myself, and with a Rittenberry being your first steel, I believe you've spoiled yourself as well. Enjoy it...you've got one heck of a guitar.
I talked to Gary several times on the phone and he was always very nice, helpful & patient. Much like you, I was blown away by the fact that when I called him...I talked to "him". How many companies can you say that about?
I've talked to the president of Standel easily...and of course, Mike Brown of Peavey is easy to get ahold of. I'm sure that there our other builders that are easy to get ahold of...I just haven't had the chance to talk to them.
Enjoy your Rittenberry in good health!!!

P.s. Hugheyland is unbelieveable on these steels, you'll be amazed at how consistent the tone is up there. |

I may have a chance at getting a Nashville LTD built by Garry, D10 Doug Jernigan model with GL E66 pups. Time will tell. I know I would love to have a Rittenberry and I might have to go this route since the wait for a new Ritt will only get longer due to demand.

Tony,
I'm sure that the LTD by Gary would be a great guitar. If the price is right...it might be a real bargain. Gary knew what he was doing back then too.

If orders ever slow down on these great guitars, I want to order one for myself,,,,,,,yep,,,,,,for myself!!
But then, I don't want orders to slow down, ever heard of "Catch 22"?

Possibly I'll find a trade-in someday, someone with a double wanting a single neck, stranger things have happend.

Wow, with all these great comments about the Rittenberry, you are making it harder for me to wait for mine! 
I am going for the powder coating and not so much chrome on mine, I am tired of fingerprints and polishing chrome.
Yep, all you guys are in "deep water" for not posting pictures of your Ritts. 
There is a rumor going around that Bobbe Seymour is pictured on his new Tennessee Country cd playing a Ritt on the Grand Ole Oprey.
The Ritts actually get at least 2 quality control checks, one from Gary and then it is sent to Bobbe where he personally rechecks the guitar. Nothing will leave his shop unless it is in perfect working order and we all know how pickey he is.
Has anyone played a Ritt through a FSK? That is what I am currently using and would like to know how it sounds.
Thanks to all you guys for making me feel good about the choice made on getting the Rittenberry. Is this Forum a great place or what??

I'm working on pictures, but my guitar's emerald color isn't turning out well.
I can't get my camera to do its thing.
I agree, we need to post pictures of our guitars!!
My guitar has the powder coating as well, I've never seen that on instruments before ( its a good option.)
Dennis Lee played his brand new Ritt and mine thru his FSK, they sounded great imho. You'll be happy.
Larry Behm played my Ritt thru his Peavey Nashville and again, the tones were what I call "balanced"
I agree about this forum, b0b and others do a great job in keepng it running.
My plans are to post some audio clips on my website, so others can hear the Rittenberry tone... but know I'm just a rookie.

| I played my new Rittenberry for a couple of hours on Sunday evening with a wonderful piano player I know. I could not believe how beautiful this guitar sounded through my Fender Steel King with the settings that Gary recommended to me, and a Hilton pedal from that lovable Fred Justice. The clarity of this guitar from the bottom to the highest fret was incredible. This guitar makes me sound like I can actually play the pedal steel! What a joy and pleasure. I'm absolutely in love with this black beauty. |

I own and LOVE an LTD. I am far from knowledgable or experienced with different brands but everyone who has played this guitar seems to really like it as well. I bought it used and beleive i was incredibly lucky to get such a bargain and such a wonderful solid great sounding guitar. cheers! |
