Often, when things get mangled on your Windows Desktop, rebooting your computer can rectify the problem. When that fails to fix the problem we escalate to the troubleshooting level.

Ray;
Tell me about your computers; the makes, models, types of processors and how they are networked, if at all.

I can tell you, in a nutshell, that as long as they are not HP computers that contain AMD processors, you should be ok to upgrade. If they are HP AMD equipped computers ask for assistance first.

Ray;
A quick search on Google shows that some owners of the same computer as yours are having various problems after upgrading to SP3. Some are losing their audio, while others their usb networking adapters stop working. You might want to contact Dell support before upgrading, to find out if your particular computer requires driver updates before you upgrade to service pack 3.

At the very least you should export your files and settings to an external drive, before upgrading. Note that SP3 is uninstallable, allowing a rollback to SP2.
