Maybe I'm not too smart, but you say:

As far as I can tell what you describe is nothing but a classic, bottom-feeding, music biz "scam"; will you tell us just how taking money from artists and/or labels for a "chart position" gave us "good Country Records with hot Steel Guitar licks"?
Are you leaving something important out? Did he actually contribute to music too somehow, or was he just skimming money (in what sounds like a questionably legal way) from those that were? |

Hello Pete!Come on now get real, you live in Nashville, you think it's any different today than it was yester years,You know, the old days. You're in the Union? How many gigs have they given you? Do you think your dues give you a accuracy for a gig? Look in those days you could play with Money and they the ones who couldn't get Airplay, they call it pay -O-la. Today it has a knew name called Advertistment or Marketing. So,Come on now Pete, you think your cookie cutting Neighborhood care about the Steel Guitar Musicians or any. How many dollars are spent on mailings and phone calls to update the contain of the past. Unless you lived it as a record promoter, personal manager,on the air DJ,Booking agents and so on,I know the game and it's still the same. It's only how you respect who's running it.Now days, seems like no body can put their fingers on it. My point about the Steel Guitar licks was those guys put out good nice records no matter how they did it. Why don't you give Leslie Shaver a call and I bet she could help you in your Neighborhood to understand my words. . Sincerely in Country Music & All Styles. I don't have any illusions about how this business works, believe me. And that's not the point...
I just personally don't care to give credit for the MUSIC itself to some of the scum sucking leeches that have tended to feed on it, then and now. I prefer to make a real distinction between the creators and the parasites. You can do what you want...
Fair enough? |

I should say this too, in case I sound more bitter than I really am:
There's obviously plenty of good people who make an honest living from music without actually making music, and that includes some good friends. But I still don't give them credit for "giving us" the music!
And of course there are, as always, plenty of "leeches, bottom-feeders and parasites", and while it might sometimes be professionally necessary to be around 'em and be polite, I don't hang out with them by choice! |

Hey Pete, I first want to say,I'm proud of you for telling the truth in how you feel & respect that we are both on the same side of the Music-Indrustry Business. Knowing all those real people and the fruit-cakes who are all on the same table like the late supper. Remember All Organizations are in bed with each & that's Called control. Ask one of the 3 Million Musicians in American how they survived in spenting money to be in the winner circle? I know what happen to us in our Neighborhood, but,I also supported your Neighborhood and the World in.It's a difficult job maintaining something out of your hands that you helped built from ground up. It's all in God Hands and it's his job to touch the hearts of people to do right.I'm (Leo) just trying to assure the best possible information to the attention of helping the Young green Musicians who are Steel Guitarist or others to respect the History of the past from Artist like Hal Southern,Ronnie Sessions,Hank Snow,Kenny Price,Rex Allen,Jerry Clower,Lacy J.Dalton,Johnny Duncan,Becky Hobbs,A.J. Master,Ray Pillow,Susan Raye,Lawton Jiles,Bennie Wilson,Jack Tucker & myself Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. > Sincerely in Music,Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. |

Is it just me, or does it seem a little pointless to keep "bumping" a thread (here and elsewhere) when it's obvious no one else is interested... Or is this the hi-tech version of talking to yourself?
Just wondering... |

Hello Pete Finney,It's obvious you live in the heart of Country Music,Nashville,Tn.And of all people you should know or be in the know of your neighborhood's History.I'm just re-running the past to Educate the Young Musicians no matter what style of Music they play & the World to understand who reads the Steel Guitar Forum. So,can you put your National Guard grief aside and for once help the reason why you are a Musician no matter what style branch. Sincerely in respect to Country Music & all Style. Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. |

The only reasonable response to that statement would get me kicked off the forum... two words; use your imagination.
I'm sure I was only asking what many others had wondered too, only they were nice and restrained enough to keep it to themselves. |

With respect to you Pete Finney,Imagination... They are big boys or men & ladies.Help fix the neighborhood you live in and we can all share the fun of doing what we love doing, playing Music.Right or I'm I wrong Again?
