Hey guys ,Jim , Ron ,Thanks for your replies ,your time is valuable & much appreciated . I am sure I have a nice piece here , & would like to place it in a loving home , at a fair price , I agree it looks a bit like the Lyric , or a Magnatone of some sort , I have a "few" Valco Instruments . I changed strings on one neck , & the color codes & pots are identical to my 54 Supro, & 50's Kays pot codes can't be read without taking out both p/ups ,& the plate with the pots , I'm sure if Michael Lee Allen ,ever gets his computer up he will ID it. It took 11 months to figure out what model my 54 Supro Archtop is ,then 2 were offered on ebay in a 2 weeks ,it is an El Capitan . I will sit on it until I'm sure . It is in the $895 shipped price range . Has anybody seen Andy Volk's book on lap steels? I am thinking of ordering it , but wouldn't mind a review from members .Bill

The book is an awe-inspiring work of staggering genius and a cautionary tale about the dangers of using global spellcheck/replace after a book has already been completely edited (see Mikeraphone). You'll laugh, you'll weep, you'll tie your fingers into knots trying out exotic tunings. You'll be out $33 bucks (postpaid & signed by author Smile)

William, it's a wonderful book - a must-have for Steel Players and aficionados.
I have 2 copies - 1 frayed and dog-eared, and 1 signed and tucked away.

Andy's book is required reading for anyone who enjoys lap steel guitar. It is exceptionally well done.
