For all that the ACM show was or wasn't, Paul did win Steel Player of the Year--nice going . Michael Rhodes won for Bass, another favorite and friend
It's nice to see guys who play with such brilliance and are such fine people get a nod once in a while. All the best to you both... _________________ John Macy

Lloyd Green, Dan Dugmore, Russ Pahl and Gary Morse.
It takes some digging to find out anything about the musician awards, most of the websites that claim to have the "complete" ACM nomination and winners info can't be bothered... |

No disrespect to Paul or any others contenders, I love them all, but look who did the voting. Had I had a chance to vote, I may have gone the same way but I have NO respect for the ACM board that made the decision. Most of them don't know what steel guitar is! These are the folks that won't let the steel players PLAY steel on sessions and use thir own minds.
As I stated, Paul is very very deserving, possibly my choice, but the criteria they used for choosing a winner is unacceptable.
When I contacted the board about this they told me that there are really only 13 catagories and "side man musicians" don't really even have a catagory, the stated sideman catagory is what they called a "throw away" catagory!
These folks are telling us what????????
Look at what they are doing to all aspects of our beloved true cherished country music. Turning it into rock and rap so they can make more bucks? Does the word "prostitution" come to mind,,
Distort country music, change it completely and sell it to the teeny boppers, get their lunch money and disregard the folks that made the great classic sounds what that were.
ACM= Awful Country Mistake.
However, I am very glad they even know who Paul Franklin is, and I join you others in congradulating him, he is a deserving person and player, glad these non-music folks voted for him, even though they probably did not know what they were voting for.. I wish ALL the guys could have shared this accolade.
Steel guitars forever, more more more more more!
By the way, get down to see the "Time Jumpers", Paul is performing there and the newest member of this wonderful group. A great player,

Thanks John,
Stuart Duncan, Jerry Douglas, Michael Rhodes, Paul, Matt Rollans, don't know who won Drums? Probably Eddie?
The fans voted this year, probably for the names they saw on CD's they bought?
Anyway, Congrat's to all the nominee's and WINNER'S! |

Shannon Forest won the Drummer award...
I think the fans only got to vote on Entertainer of the Year, everything else was by the ACM members... _________________ John Macy
