i have something called malwarrior on my computer and i cant get rid of it it fouling up everything
its a program that i can't find out how to shut down or get rid of .its not listed anywhere

it still here
counterspy helped but its still redirecting my brower
and my task maneger is still locked out also it still restarts when i reboot
this thing is nasty
is there any way to totally get rid of this thing

wiz thanks
but it caused my computer to completly crash the only way i could even even get back online was to use compaq recovery that wipes everything out and restarts my computer just like it came out of the box... i would try to click onthe steel forum and get some porn site or who knows what .
i have had a couple of computer viruses before but nothing like that thing i tryed scanning it with AVG 7.5 but it did'nt even show up on it, then i tryed a registery cleaning program still no luck what ever this thing is ....its bad news
i also tried counterspy and windows defender
nothing works on this critter

Calvin, You've got a bad one for sure. I THOUGHT I was in your situation a few months back and I did the only thing I felt was the best peace of mind for me:
Formatted the drive.
Back up your most essential files and do a full format and re-install of everything.
When that is done, get yourself a Norton Anti Virus or compatible, plus the trusted Spyware Search and destroy. |

i'm back up and running but i had to wipe out everything and reinstall everything from scratch
i don't know how or where it came from i just came back inthe room one evening and my computer was going crazy, that was the first indication i had that anything was wrong
this thing loads itself onto your computer and you know nothing about it untill it's to late
antiviruse or antispyware does not seem to detect it
nothing that i tried worked
still can't get my sound back on, other than that i think i'm ok

Calvin, I don't know what PC you have, but PC's that have the Intel chipset on the motherboard require the chipset drivers to be installed BEFORE you can install device drivers such as the sound.
On these types of PC's the install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install chipset drivers (3) Install device drivers (e.g. sound drivers). |

its a compaq if that helps, i'm at a loss how toget the sound on again i checked onthe audio and it said something about not being instailed ?? i know nothing about all this stuff

Calvin if that's the case, you want to make sure that you have a quality firewall installed - for example the one that comes with Norton Antivirus. I am leery of the built in Windows one.
Also make sure your Anti virus program detects and deletes viruses in real time. Also scan your system regularly-say twice a week-with SpyBot Search and Destroy. |

when i said its not listed anywhere i was talking about on my computer . i checked add/remove programs also i looked in my c drives program folder and everywhere else i could think of trying to delete it ..i did not mean on the web ..sorry for the miscomunication i was kinda in a panic when i wrote that

Calvin;
Now that you have everything reinstalled and working properly, here is what you should do immediately.
- Set a brand new System Restore Point.
- Run Windows Updates manually, rebooting as instructed, then check again for supplimental updates (to previous updates).
- Check everything, then set a new System Restore Point.
- Install ZoneAlarm (ZA) basic personal firewall and configure it to recognize and allow your router and existing and future applications to connect to the Internet. If you choose not to install ZA, please ensure that the Windows Firewall is ON and protecting your network adapter.
- Install and update reputable anti-virus and an anti-spyware programs (free or commercial). Scan for malware. Tell ZA or the Windows Firewall to allow them and remember your decision.
- Install Windows Defender, update it and scan for malware.
- Set a new Restore Point.
- If you have a backup program use it to save an image of the entire boot drive to another location. This could be a second (slave) internal drive, or an external drive. Acronis True Image is an excellent choice for imaging and restoring you entire computer, with all licenses and product activations, accounts, files and settings maintained.
- Download and install the latest Firefox or Opera browser, allow it to import any saved Favorites from Internet Explorer, then use it to browse the Internet. Only use Internet Explorer to run Windows Updates, or to access known safe websites that require ActiveX support to function. ActiveX is your enemy and is not supported at all in Firefox or Opera.
- Upgrade your email client to Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird, importing any existing email and addresses from Outlook Express.
- If you choose to download and use Firefox, also install the NoScript plug-in. It will protect you from Cross-Site-Scripting (XSS) and JavaScript Redirection attacks.

thanks wiz
your going to have to pardom my stupidity , but i thought everyone used e xplorer , and everytime i tried to use a firewall i had to disable it to get on the internet. i know its is because i dont know what i'm doing . also i have no idea how to back up anything .but i am going to give what you said a try
