Diatonic tuning

I have eight-string dobro that I'm considering stringing for a diatonic tuning. There's a few varieties out there, Weldon Myrick's tuning and Jerry Byrd's.

Any listening sources for diatonic tuning?

Hi there my friend:
I'd suggest you might be richly rewarded if you'd go to the JERRY Byrd-Fan Club.com site, page #7, and in the drop-down menu, select 'INVITATION'.

It's a classic demonstration of JERRY's choice.

Give it a try. I'm sure you'll enjoy picking out all of the little tricks required to play in that tuning. Just remember, it's all C6th until you want that BIG FAT chord for which you must go up a couple of frets to acquire on the lower strings.
If I told you any more, I'd be depriving you of a real challenge.

Aloha Drew,
I have been playing this tuning for about 15 years, and find it very satisfying in the way it fills in gaps. I have been fortunate enough to have a friend that is a great arranger, composer, and player who has`given me some great tabs on songs like "Solitude" etc. Scotty is now selling the tabs that Jerry made available on his last listing, I am sure Scotty would make that list available, or it might be on his web site.

What steps are you taking? Everyone else seems to be clicking-on without any problem and we get it here okay on two different 'puters?
I've found that M/Soft Media Player 7 has been a good reliable player vs a lot of the newer competitive players.
What say you?

My guess would be that they are using a Macintosh or other non-Windows based computer. The menu and playback system you're utilizing on your web site requires the Windows OS to work properly.

I was unable to play the song using Mozilla Firefox browser, but it worked OK on MS Internet Explorer.

Using the link provided by Brad it now plays on Firefox.

No Macs in my house! I do use Mozilla Firefox, though. I'll try switching over to Explorer and see if that helps. (BTW, Brad's link does work with Mozilla Firefox.)

Well, my hat's in the creek after just listening to Eddie Stubbs on WSM Radio play the old Original Recording of Billy Walker singing “Charlie's Shoes”. That's before the version that made it a hit! (No whistling or Uke.) Jerry plays background and also does an instrumental break in the middle and it's all done on the C-Dia. Tuning. I worked for Billy for 2-yrs. but; I never knew there were two versions! Byrd's work is on about the same plain as he did with Ferlin Husky's “Next To Jimmy”, only maybe even better! PSG's got nuttin’ on Jerry Byrd!
