I've got this old fender D-8 with them fricken lollipop tuners(blast them things to hell), and I need replacement screws for the little brass gears. I was tuning up after rewinding that trapezoid pickup(blast that thing to hell as well), and what do you know, the damn string slipped. I yelled "FRICK!" at the top of my lungs, and I find out the little screw holding on the little brass gear BARELY grabs on with a few threads to the tuner shaft. The end of the screw stripped. Lucky the threads in the shaft are ok. I WAS going to get some a little longer. So I go out to find some this morning, and low and behold, it's not metric or standard.I want to keep the ashtrays all stock if possible. The original appears to have a 3/32" diameter shaft with 36 threads per inch, and 3/8" long total. Never seen that size anywhere. What the hell is it? Out of production screw sizes? You guys got any bright ideas?

Someone on here will likely respond. I gave a bunch of those tuner parts to someone here for repairing folks guitars, but I forgot who it was. |

Guess what? I have a extensive collection of tuner key parts. I must have 30 to 40 various screws. If interested, I can send several at no cost.Just need an address. |

Thomas, I rewound it myself, but advise against it unless you have a boatload of patience, or a bit of practice. I have neither. |

I got lucky I guess. I bought a 55' Fender T-8 Stringmaster with the "lollipop" tuners and they work great. |

Erv, I was going to have Jerry do it for me, but I was too stubborn for my own good. Thomas, take note and call Jerry Wallace.
Andy, these ones worked great, then a few days ago it slipped. beware of those short gear screws. If I find some to replace them, I'm changing all of them out to longer ones. I just hope I don't have to go through the whole tuner pan "remodel". |
