I think they're great! But I'm prejudiced! I might have assembled that guitar. I don't know where Troy is, but Hummingbird Studios in Sugarcreek has two SD-10s. Maybe you could drive over and play one???

Yes. The black one. Great Dealer, Great Guitar. I'm a happy camper. 
the seller doesn't say anything about the set-up. They come both ways - big E or day...What ever works for you, but I'd want to know before I purchase. Of course it can be changed over, but that's an added cost that you might not want to encounter.

there's that split tuning key you don't want to mess with unless you REALLY know what your doing.
I can't help but wonder what the owner has done to it that is making him want to sell it. He didn't say if he is buying a new one or what.

I was looking at the pedals. The way the rods hook into the pedals. Mine is different. My rods hook to the side, not the top. Just looking. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. OR maybe I am not seeing it right.
case looks like an economy varity too. I got 4 latches on mine. I'll see if I can get a pic.

Tammy, Can you change the Fender over to the "Day" set-up,or is it "fixed",or permanent?
If I recall, I don't think you can add any knee levers to the Fender. |

| Good eye Tamara! Those are the older style pedals. So, I did not assemble that guitar. I'm sure a call to Jerry Brightman would get you it's date. BTW, if you order a guitar, you can have any set-up you like. |

The Fender has one knee. It lowers 2 and 8. Factory default. I'm leaving it alone. Could be worth big dollars someday. I'm thinking it's way too simple of a machine to mess with. Might be like trying to put a catalytic (there's a word I can't spell..) converter on a Model T Ford.
So, Greg..did you look at the green one at Hummingbird Studio? hmmmm? It's nice.

Well, I guess I'll break the Ohio monopoly here. Nothing really to say except, welcome to the "Day" club, Tamara.
And remember not to wear a dress when you play. I always get a lot of stares and get embarrased  when I forget and wear a dress.

Didn't see a green one Tamara. I saw the black one. I can only see Black anyway. Can you expound on this Performance guitar. Are you connected with Hummingbird music? I would like something to compare it to. A Carter maybe?? I would love to buy one from a store new
but 1500 bucks if they are nice guitars, playable, smooth, sound, LIGHT!!!!! this one is a great deal. Thanks, Greg |

Well! I submitted a post at the exact moment my power went out. Guess it didn't make it here.
Tamara, I did not assemble your guitar. I did put together the beautiful greenie though. Greg, it's on the next page at Hummingbird. You gotta press "next" or something. A Performance can be ordered in either Day or Emmons set-up. I've had to get Jerry outa the office on a couple of real odd copes. I deserve minimal credit. I just put 'em together. Jerry Brightman deserves all the credit for his brilliant design and unswerving dedication to perfection. Go to the Performance site and look at some of the undercarriage pics. The first time I saw one, my brain kinda stopped! The design is amazing. They're reasonably light in weight, but they don't shuffle around the stage at all. The tolerances in machining the metal, and even the wood are incredibly tight and close. No flexing at all. I love my job!

Greg I've own one for a over a year and Ilike it as good as any guita I own absolutely perfect in every way. And Jerry Brightman has alot of pride in his guitars too he don't build a second rate guitar give her a try you just might be surprised.Just my 2 cnts.

I'm not really connected to Hummingbird music, I do take lessons there. I have done so for 8 months. I don't have anything to do with the business end, but I have gotton to know some of the staff and other students. They are all great people. I have always been treated very well. If you want to talk steel, talk to Rick. He has some other steels in his shop that aren't on the website. That's all I can tell you about it because that is all I know. |

John Coffman Thanks for all of your input and help John. I was a little overwhelmed when I first got this guitar. It's a beast. Just from getting educated on the forum, and talking to folks like you I can see that this thing will last a lifetime with little or no issues. When I first set it up I ran through a few songs that use several of my favorite chords. Panic set in. I had no 5 th string lower on the rkl. Amazingly; I figured it out "on my own" switched the rod and "voila" it was done. Didn't even need to tune the lower. I was very proud of this minor accomplishment. (how ever minor to most.) I'm becoming more familiar to this guitar the more I play it. I get a little confused at the different look of the fret markers, my arm laying on the c6, and the feel of the pedals. These things seem to distract me and interfere with my concentration on playing the guitar. I would assume that this is common with some players making guitar changes. One of the big issues that I didn't give any thought to was how heavy 72 pds are when I grab that handle. WOW!So I went on a search for a light weight compact dolly for hauling this thing around found the perfect one at Lowe's. I am sure this is not news to you veterans; but this thing is a back saver. It came fully assembled in a box measuring about 2"x2'x2' Carries up to 200 pds Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $40.00 So; I am going to tough it out with these few issues either fixed or fading away. This guitar is not even broken in yet. It is virtually new an sounds great. If I become disenchanted, I'll let you have first crack at it John. PS This guitar was acquired from L.M. English and Michael Douchette and was under described as to it's saleability. They are stand up guys who call it like it is. Thanks to all for your help. Greg

| I bought one of these at Lowe's for my saltwater tackle box... I deep sea fish and the weights are substantial...my tackle box weighs about 60 lbs or so....BUT....I found out that this thing will try to fold itself back up if you PULL it (wheels leading) you HAVE TO push this thing to keep the wheels straight. This is fine as long as you're on a flat surface, but it's a major pain trying to go up a slope. The foldup design is a good idea, but still needs some method to lock the wheels in place until you're ready for them to fold up... |
