And this is not a complaint mind you..but if someone were to ask me, and they ain't gonna..it would be , are you ready for this ....No house Tele' player . Bobby Caldwell was beyond awesome for the three days..on his 335 style guitar...playing out of his swing and jazz arsenal, But as I was listening to some of the natural country and up-tempo 'grass flavored tunes , I heard a little voice inside calling out " Tele' Tele' Tele' .." Maybe Jimmy Capps next year ? Who Knows ..A chicken picker Tele' is required to play along with chickin pickin Steelers..Tele' and Steel..no better combo..Remember this was not a complaint..but rather an "offering"...

I said the same thing to the fellow who picked Tele with Ralph Mooney.
I missed the twang.
Also, many players let each member of the house band take a solo on most of their tunes. This might be one of the world's best house bands, but I don't want to hear their solos every half hour.

No, just been down the road a few to many times ..Plus it's my birthday today and it would be good to remain as civil as possible today for as long as possible .
And what if Bobby Caldwell just happen to read the post, I would not want him to think that I did not enjoy his incredible playing. So there...
Gee Brother Marty, you're gettin' pretty good at that copy/paste thing..
Joey, I looked for you at Scotty's but the more I kept looking at name badges the more I kept walking into people ! So I gave up , maybe next year. Maybe we should bring "OUR" Tele's ! ha ha ha

My one critique is the sound men kept the steel vocal mike turned off except when they thought they needed to turn it on, but they ineveitably failed to get it on in time, leaving MANY comments from the steel players unheard.
As in, "----- ---- -- for the fiddle player!"
Or, "----- - ---- I learned from Bob Wills!"
Just leave the damn thing on already!

Caldwell can play a Tele with anybody. He even owns one. But it is my understanding that the people who pay the band asked Bobby and Gregg to play tastefully.

Well then he "SHOULD" have played on the TELE" !! Instead of being just normally great he would have been outstanding exceptional !

Sorry 'bout that, I mistakenly (I think) took it as a slam at Caldwell & Gregg. One of my heros ( Thumbs Carlisle ) was a Tele player and you do great wif one also. Terry you are right..my wife only lets me out twice a year Once, to go to church and one time to buy new strangs. Sorry but I was still boiling about the post about C6th as a crutch.

Ernest, I think you are one of the very few players who could do a whole set in that setting, the others being Lloyd, Tommy, and Doug. |

Hey Earl, I can flip the bar as good and as high and as many rotations as anyone you ever did see but it is the LANDING that I have not perfected. It sure seems to make a lot of folks extremely happy when I miss though. Two years and it is still fresh on the minds of some frien........people!
Jack, you are still one of my very favorite folks in the steel guitar world. Thanks for the favors you have done for me in the past.
I am really looking forward to the next one.
