I'm thinking about a new steel sometime in next couple years, I was after Emmons D10 but told waiting period is hopeless, and now I'm thinking Derby D10, what thoughts on the Derby, I know there are lots of other types as well, but I'm told Derby is good!!!

| Music City Instruments has a new D-10 Emmons on there website for sale. Located in Magee, MS. I don't represent them in anyway but I did see the blue denim Emmons on the site. Good looking guitar and not a bad price on it, if it's still there. |

I had to wait 8 months, which was within their quoted delivery, and well worth the wait!
Have you contacted Ron and received a delivery time?

A couple things. First, I'll give you my personal opinion of Derby in a few days - I recently purchased a D-10 and it should be here soon! I'm stoked about that! But that will be my personal opinion. As I am sure you are aware all brands have their "loyalists". (What I do find ammusing is someone who touts their steel as the "best they have ever played"...only to see it for sale a few months later).
You say you want a new steel - if you are replacing an old one, what is it you are looking for? Better mechanics/smoother action? Better tone? Better reliability? I think almost all newer all-pulls are reliable, the rest is subjective. No matter how good you "hear" a guitar is, you may not like it. That is always a possibility, as I already learned a few years back. So just do as much research as you can and of course if you can play the guitar first that's best, many of us can't afford that luxury. |

I'm looking to get a "new" guitar, for all the reasons Scott has stated. Although you may have to wait 4 to 6 months, BMI is my choice, for performance, sound,and of course, price. Dan and Don are both great & honest guys to deal with.

| Well, I´m very satisfied with my Derby. Very smooth to play. I recommend Jagwire string on it. I have Paul Franklin ones. |
