Just got a call to join this brand new one being formed in Northeast Texas (they've obviously never heard me play).
Rose City Steel Guitar Association
Tyler, Texas
Ron Whitting 903-597-4289
or David Mitchell 903-565-6000
4th Sunday of the month
Annual dues are $15.00
I think the location will vary month to month. This month it's in Longview (I believe) at Dave 'n Deb's Music. From what Ron told me on the phone, it sounds like we're gonna have some great players at the upcoming jams.

Sam:
I can't believe you posted this message.
According to our records, you have been a member of the Pedal Steel Guitar Association (the VERY FIRST ASSOCIATION OF STEEL GUITARISTS - founded in 1973 - that's 29 years, Sam) since 1997 and you don't know what Associations exist? I guess you don't read this part (Events) of the forum much.
I am amazed at your ignorance of the steel guitar Associations that have been formed based on our success in the PSGA.
We started the ball rolling in 1973! That's why we have such a reputable staff of professionals who continue to support our non-profit efforts to promote the steel guitar in all it's forms.
I don't mean to put you down Sam, but I am really upset by your ignorance. You are the co-founder and President of the Rhode Island Steel Guitar Association and you have displayed a quality which is totally out of character for a man of your elected position and dedication.
Thanks to our professional advisors like Jody Carver we will continue to exist long after other "Associations" are no longer in existence.
PSGA Officers:
Bob Maickel - President
John DeMaille - Vice President
Jeff DeMaio - Treasurer
Darlene DeMaille - Secretary
BTW, we are still mailing your PSGA newsletter to Vermont, cause you never gave us your new address. It ain't come back yet, so I guess someone up there is enjoying it, at your expense! |

Bob read what i posted. I said let see how many Steel Guitar associations we have in the U.S.A..Do you know how many we have.I don't know and I thought it would be nice to find out and have them identifiy themself. If I did a no no I'll delete my post.I did not try to do anything to get anyone up set at me. If I did wrong I'm sorry had no intention to cross someones path.I know you have been doing this for years and when I was in R.I. I would drive all the way to Norwalk to see your show. Also Bob you got mad at me when I strated my R.I. steel guitar show. You said it was to close to your show and that Bill Hankey's show was in November.Well it did not hurt your show and it did not hurt Bills or mine. I have 2oo to 250 people come to my R.I. Steel Show.I belong to your Steel guitar Assoc. The Mid Atlantic Steel Guitar Assoc. R.I. Country Horrizon Asasoc.I was on the board and The R.I.Country Music Assoc. So you can see I'm a dedicated country Music person.I don't think you should have talked to me that way on the forum. You can cotrol all the Associations out there and what I asked was no harm to anyone. Maybe you misunder stood what I posted.

hi sam; i don't think you over step your bounds by posting the ad, nor do i think it shows your ignorance.I'am glad you ask the question it gives the smaller steel guitar clubs a chance to get a little recognition.
I think you and bob have a little disagrement there about shows, not your ad. anyway i've been playing steel guitar for 30 years. lived in nashville for 3 years, played for a living, i've been attending the st, louis convention now probably 13 years, and yes i've seen the psga table but never stopped there, i guess that makes me ignorant too. but then what do i know! i'am just a good ole southern boy who plays pedal steel, dobro, mandolin, fiddle, guitar.
just my opinion , Sam!

Bob,
You have a right to your opinion/s. But, I think it is you who are ignorant for posting that opinion publicly and in the manner and "tone" that you did. I've really lost a lot of my respect for you and your association with the well respected organization that you represent. Respect that I've had for years and I don't appreciate your personal attack toward Sam. If you're in St. Louis and want to take it up with me, I'll be glad to say the same thing to your face.
We all probably get a little out of line from time to time, and that's usually OK, but, I feel that you took it a little too far here on the forum.

Message to Bob: Since you chose to publicly display your displeasure with Sam's post, then you shouldn't mind individuals making some comments in response to yours! I don't know what your beef is with Sam (as it seems to be something personal) but I do not feel that his post was out of line as (I) as most people would be interested in finding out about (all) the Steel Guitars organizations out there. I think and feel you exposed yourself as the type of person you really are and did a discredit to yourself and the organization you represent. I think you were completely out of line by making this personal attack on Sam plublic on the Forum. He had an e-mail address that you could have sent him for your personal attacking comments and wouldn't have exposed your real character to the steelguitar World. I really think you feel "in making your comments" that your organization is the only one that serves the steelguitar world and you are just trying to draw attention to yourself and your organization. I think you failed miserably in your attempts.
I also think a plublic apology on the Forum would be in order to Sam and the forumites for your degrading comments!!!
Thanks
Ken [This message was edited by Ken Latchum on 21 August 2002 at 06:05 AM.] [This message was edited by Ken Latchum on 21 August 2002 at 06:15 AM.] [This message was edited by Ken Latchum on 21 August 2002 at 06:17 AM.] [This message was edited by Ken Latchum on 21 August 2002 at 06:38 AM.] |

This is more or less a bump to the top.
I feel that it needs more attention and responses from forum members as well as Bob and b0b (Bobby Lee). And I mean responses from either side of the fence. I and a few others have stated our outlook on the matter. What's yours?
