Me and the wife jumped in the car this morning and took a trip to Branson to see Tyler Hall. He is playing steel on the morning show with Wade Landry. Wade is a musician's musician and an unbelievable showman/host. Tyler Hall amazed me so much with his talent. They had a four piece group and the steel is right out front throughout the entire show. What really got me excited was all the C6th pickin on the majority of Cajun Tunes. I was expecting fast picken E9th but Tyler really has the greatest sound I've heard using the C6th on those tunes. To me, it sounded like a real tastey almost swing/bluesy Emmons technique and it fit perfectly with everything Wade did. I can't believe Tyler is only 20 years old. He sounds like an old seasoned pro!

When we first sat down I looked over at the Bass Player and it was Phil Coontz (another steel guitar legend). I told my wife "This is really great". Then I went to get a refreshment on break and Boo Miller (yet another great steeler) was working the snack bar. Wade Landry said "This place is crawling with Steel Guitarist's", "I feel like I'm at a Steel Convention".

If you are going to Branson, Mo. don't miss the shows at God and Country Theater. You get to hear Legendary Singers all day and night and steel guitar is a main ingredient here. I'm going back again real soon.... Very Happy

.

My folks have a time share in Branson and have been beating me up for a long time to go with them. Unless you count my stroke in "06", I haven't had a vacation since "86". Guess it's about time. Do you happen to know when the Steel Guitar show is in Branson? Hate to go there and not see it.Steel shows in NH are scarcer than hens teeth.

Daniel, here is the Ozark SGA website. ( http://www.ozarksteelguitar.com/home.html ) ....I don't think Hank has posted the dates yet on the Events Calendar but maybe he will post something here or you can check their site as the date gets closer to June.

Wow Rick! The checks in the mail. Laughing

I really appreciate the kind words. Wade is a fun guy to work with. I get to play pretty much whatever I want, and he loves the C6. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Next time you come I'll be playing the Mullen. We're pretty much surrounded by steel players. Phil and Boo are much better players than I am, so I'm still not sure how I got the job.

I appreciate you coming down to see the show. Next time I come I'll have to take ya to lunch. Be good until the next time I see you.
-Tyler

Wade told me about this last fall but did not have the particulars worked out at that time. Was Barry Bales and brother Chuck Landry in the group Nick ? This will be a highlight to see for sure . Winking

Bill, Adam Guidry (Wade's nephew) plays the drums on this show and also a squeeze-box accordian for 3 or 4 songs. Barry Bales was not there. He is my all-time favorite guitar picker. When not playing lead, Tyler is doing a lot of chord work and vamping. Really great stuff.

Didn't know Adam played the squeeze box --we'll have to have him fetch it along at our jams - Smile
