I had a chance to see The Happy Goodman Family in person back in the early 70s in Bluefield West Virginia and I remember this man playing pedal steel with them at that time but can't remember his name but I do remember Howard saying that their steel player was his son-in-law. Yep, that's Jack, and he did a great job even then. He was one of my earliest influences, although I still can't even come close to his level even back then. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

I read several years ago that Rusty had been a really good lap steel player when he was younger. He was a Jerry Byrd pretege'. I don't know if he ever played pedals or not. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
