Hi Everyone!

I've decided to take a break from the ranch and head up to Branson for a week or so to see how that side lives. We're booked for the popular shows (Shoji, Yackoff, Legends in Concert, '50's review, etc, etc) and was wondering if there are any "Must see" shows highlighting the Steel guitar, ... or is there so much of it that one can't miss? I'd be interested in other "Branson Must see" functions also.
Thanks,
Weldon

Tell Roger Jerry Roller said hi also. He is one of my favorite people as well as steel players in Branson.

Weldon you might check with The RFD-TV Theater on the west end of 76 strip at Shepherd of The Hills junction to see if they are featuring a steel at the time with The Penny Gilley Show. A friend of mine, Phil Coontz, played with them for a while last fall but I'm not sure who, if any, is with them this spring. If Tillis is not on the road while you are there, watch for Wade Landry's show-- (he plays fiddle with the Statesiders but when they arn't working he has a show there featuring Boo Miller on steel). Wade is an excellent entertainer. Hi to Roger also - Smile

http://www.genewilliamscountry.com/ Check this web site for the Gene Williams Show . It's at a small theater inside the Branson Mall on the strip. Dave Musgrave was playing steel for the show the last I knew. Dave used to tour with Ray Price.

...Great advice guys! I can see I'm going to have to make the Branson trip at least an annual visit. I've been reading the brochure on Branson activities, but there's nothing like getting "Insider" information!

Thanks,
Weldon

Hi Weldon, I'm playing steel at the Wade Landry show in the God and Country Theater at 10:00 A.M. It's a good show, and right now it's just a four peice band with lots of steel. Lots of old country and western swing, not to mention good cajun music. If I'm not there ('cause I'm still working the road), Terry Bethel subs for me. Terry is THE steel player here in Branson.

Brumley is not with Joey Riley anymore, and Phil Coontz isn't with Penny anymore. Phil is playing bass with us at Wade's show. Also, the Lisa Layne show at God and Country feature Boo Miller on steel, as does the Grand Ladies show. Lisa's is at 2 o'clock, and the Grand Ladies are at 7 o'clock.

Drop by and see us...

Weldon, if you happen to be going or coming on I540 Saturday evening, stop in and see us at the "Little O' Oprey" in downtown West Fork. We have a good show and I do get to play a lot of steel and dobro.
7:00 PM til about 10:30 PM.

You might want to make some time to go thru Eureka Springs and see Eddie Snow, steeler at the Ozark Mountain Hoedown also. It is a very good show.

The last I heard, Tom Brumley was working a gig in southern Texas--but with my memory, I'm lucky to remember only that much !! Confused
