It's about that time again for another O.S.G.A. (Ohio) jam / meeting . It's scheduled for May,10-th at 12:00 until 7:00 pm . We probably wont stay that long but the time is there if we need it . Location is Lighthouse Ministries ( Annex ) Building , 2295 South High Street Columbus , Ohio 43207 . As always we will be playing Gospel ,Country , Jazz ( if we have jazz players present ) . So please plan on coming and having a fun day of music and good food . As always you dont have to be a member to join in and play your instrument with us . We will also be having special singers . So please bring your musical instrument ( whatever it is ) and strum along . We welcome all . Invite everyone you know
to come out and support the O.S.G.A. Please dont forget about the Hummingbird Steel Guitar Show coming up in a few days from now . The O.S.G.A will have a booth there . We hope to meet some of the folks we talk with on the Forum . So please stop by and say hello . I might add that we have a $5.00 donation at the O.S.G.A. Jam . We pay $200.00 for the building and this helps us pay for it . There is a change in the menu. It will be lasagna and salad etc. This is a lot less work! Hope to see a huge crowd for the jam . Best regards , Gary .

I am seriously thinking about a new guitar myself. 3 and 5. I'm getting fustrated because I can't bend enough strings like I want to. I guess it's time to get serious. Kenny gets to look first, then me!
Save me some of that potato salad!

Actually, I'm in the process. I haven't actually written the check yet, but I found the one I want. If the details can be ironed out, I'll get it this tuesday. |

Gary, I was headed for your table on Sunday (after playing guitar behind Sonny) to say 'hello' to you when a phone call came that made me have to hurry back to Columbus. I've marked my calendar for May 10 and I hope to see you then. |

Ya know, I really do respect all of you all's opinion on the set up and I am considering it. Please keep in mind that I know several folks who have the Day set-up and love it. I currently have the Emmonds set up. I am open-minded enough that I think I want to give it a chance. I haven't made up my mind yet. I still want to talk to more folks. Maybe even play the new steel like it is awhile and then deceide. It just comes down to what side of my foot I want to use to mash the A pedal. Knee lever usage is all new to me, so that's a mute point.
Maybe I'll invest the money in popsickle stick stock instead and keep playing my little Fender. |

If I had to do it over I think I would have the day set-up, for the fact that when you add the franklin change on your 4th pedal it isn't a stretch, you can see how this would be tough with the emmons set-up.
Eventually you will add this change. |

Tamara, stay with the Emmons setup, a day setup will confuse you. |

What does that "Franklin pedal" do? I know someone who has one, but I don't know what it does.
Steven,
I get confused when I go from room to room. Half the time I can't remember why I am there. You are correct, it will be VERY DIFFICULT to make a transition. I don't know if I am prepared for that.
on the other hand, maybe my life needs a new chapter.
The one I'm in is getting boring. |

Remember Sat afternoon when Mike S was playing the gospel song and at the very end the last chord had this full step down and back up; that was the Franklin Pedal sound. Strings 5, 6 and 10 are lowered via a pedal. Usually it in on Pedal 4, but since that makes five changes if you have C6. Some people put it on the first pedal and call it pedal "zero." Pedal zero on a new build is pretty easy. Its hard if you add it to a already built instrument thus the reason for pedal 4.
Sometimes you want to go from pedal 1 and 2 down to the Franklin on 4 and that can be a problem. But every set up has compromises, that is why there are so many. I have it on my Emmons so you can try it next Sat. Changing from Emmons to Day on your new guitar is not a problem, so you don't have to make up your mind this very minute.

Hi Tammy . It was great to be with you and the rest of the guys and gals for the show . I played the ''green '' guitar that you didn't like and if your black guitar is just like it you will be a happy camper ! Marvin i'm sorry that we didn't get any time to chit chat . See you guys on the 10-th . |
