Hi,

I'm looking to pick up a Sd-10 4x5 pretty soon. My thinking is this is a straight forward, well made, nice sounding guitar, Thats easyish on the wallet and that I can travel about (local) with.

Any Pros or Cons current or past owners can let me know about before I pull the trigger on one?

Thanks
Matt

Matt, you can usally find some good deals at the IL show. It will be at the Holiday Inn in Mount Vernon this year, 17,18 and 19th. Bobby Reed will have some good Steels as well as some others. Check it out you may find just what your looking for.

I have had a few students buy Fessy SD10's this year and I thought they were truly great guitars. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk about it.

I currently own a Fessenden 2007 SD10 3&5. They are a great guitar with great tone and are put together well. They are priced right as well. There is currently a used one on the forum, as well as at http://www.countrypickin.com . Jeff Bradshaw in Alberta Canada has been playing & selling them for years and swears by them. You can hear me on my Fessy at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8ksCanDtxw .

I had a 4x5 mica Fessy and it was a really terrific guitar. I'd certainly have kept it if I hadn't needed to 'thin the herd' a bit for some cash.

It was simultaneously solid and lightweight, played well, and sounded great both on stage and in the studio.

Highly recommended as far as I'm concerned!

Love my Fessy S-10. Sounds great with a Truetone pickup.

I have a Fessenden D10 and a newer SD-10. Both very fine guitars, which I use somewhat interchangeably since I really don't use the C6th tuning when I'm gigging. With the recent (about a year and a half ago) acquisition of the SD-10 I felt that I got very good value for my money. I also had an S-10, which was a very fine guitar as well, but I was more comfortable going back and forth between the guitars with the wider body.

I've owned three Fessy's, a 10, a 12 and now a D-10. Love the pedal action, easy and no slop. Easy to change your set-up on. Wish the knees were easier to tighten. That's it!

I own an 06 lacquer D-10 I purchased from Randy Gilliam about 2 months ago. I really like it. There seems to be a little more cabinet drop than the D-10 Marrs I have, but thats probably because it's all wood.
