I'm one of those nutz who won't use a credit card, but don't they have some sort of protection against fraud?

But you can use your credit card to pay Paypal. Then, aren't you covered? You might call your bank, that issued you the card, and ask them some questions.

If I could find a Sho-Bud Pro II Double 10 at a price like that I'd make arrangements to travel where its at and pick it up.

Kyle,Why did you first buy it and then ask if this is a good deal?
There are some discussions of buying your instrument on ebay or not,the advantage you have is that the seller is a steel player himself,so knows what he is talking about.
