Folks
Just found out there will be a steel show this weekend, April 12 in Opp, AL. Among the artists,(many I can't recall at the moment) Done Helms is supposed to be there. I assume this is associated with the Alabama Steel Guitar Association? Doesn't seem to be mentioned on the ASGA site, but it may not be their event. I really don't know much about it. Looking forward to it! Any of you know anything about it?

The ASGA knows nothing about this show. We would be more than glad to promote it but we have no information who is running this event. The ASGA's 3rd Annual Show is April, 19th at the Holiday Inn in Prattville, Alabama. We are having Mike Johnson, Herby Wallace and Bobbe Seymour as headliners. This is the first I've heard about the OPP show.

I'm playing steel in Opp but not at a steel show. I'll be at the Four Sons Friday and Saturday night with the Rowdy Friends Band. I'd invite everyone out but I can hardly stand the place myself. We have to split the bill with a Rap music DJ.

wwhewww... bless your soul JW
that is a ruthless place.. from what I heard last weekend they had a pretty big fight break out.. we used to play that place... the schedule was 9:00 PM to 4:00AM with 45min sets and 15min breaks,, and you had someone standing over your back watching the clock. But yeah,, it was like everyone waits till the band breaks for the DJ to come on... they need chicken wire up around the stage!

I really don't know anymore about the steek show other than word of mouth from around here, but I spoke with Lamar Morris about it last night. I'll respect Mr Morris by not advertising his phone number on the www, but you can run him down pretty easily at www.lamarmorris.com
But what I do know is that its supposed to run mid-day up thru Don Helm's set beginning at 8:00 PM. This will be at the McAurther JrCo facility. I'll post anymore info I gather.

Yeah Scott we were there. There were a few knock down drag out fights that night. From what I understand it started over black dudes making passes at the white chicks and them red neck boys don't like that too much. Me either for that matter but I need the money so I play the gig.

We'll be at the Idle Hour in Andalusia at the end of the month.

That was a very good concert with talented musicians. Jack, your playing was very good. I had as much fun listening as if I were playing. I am looking forward to another show soon.

Well all I can say is that it was one of the pleasures of my life to see. And "roadie-ing" for Mr Helms just made my night. I helped he and Mrs. Helms load up and toted that legendary Gibson to their Lincoln....I got some very good pictures and one of which with Mr Helms and myself, at his guitar. I'll cherish forever! Thanks to the folks who put this on. I hope it will become a regular thing. Does anyone know anything about the Hank Sr festival in Geogiana this year? I know its usually around the 1st weekend in June, and I'd imagine Don would be there with Jett.
