Is it possible to run direct to the house sound system using the POD XT?
Does this work well?
Thanks

Terry

Yes it works well as long as you use an amp and speaker modeling. Many use these direct to the board for recording, too.

I use mine primarily as an effects (only) processor in line between my volume pedal and amp. But, I have a program that includes an amp and speaker that I have used a couple of times direct to a board for recording.

Hello Jack,
I looked at the Pod xt programs on your
site,which one's the one you're recording
direct into the board with?
Thanks.

Yes, it works, but as said you need to be sure to use the amp and speaker modeling as well as the preamp/effects.

Even then it just does not sound as good (IMO) live as a real amp moving real air, even when mic'd. The dynamics are different. I find them much better for recording than for live use. You also put yourself in hte position of being a "victim" of the sound man, who can take a decently EQ'd signal and destroy it at the board, or give you a too loud, too quiet, or badly-EQ'd monitor mix.

I've had a cfew situations over the years where sound "engineers" (who I have found at church gigs and small clubs means a guy who owns a soldering iron but not necessarily a good pair of ears...) have insisted I go direct with electric guitar or bass - I absolutely refused, in a couple of cases did sound checks both ways to prove my point and eventually was able to do it my way.

John, I don't remember which one but I think it was "Preamp 2" with the addition of a little digital delay and a little spring reverb (not much for recording).

Download all of them and install them on your POD XT and try them out. May be one that you like or one with a little "tweaking" is one you like.
