| There's a fellow who plays several songs on the steel on You Tube that is one of the best that I've heard . His name is Bill Sutton . No one seems to know anything about this guy. I questioned on a post earlier in March if anyone knew anything about Bill with no reply .He has it all and is well worth listening to .I don't understand how someone can be so good and not well known . |

You have to Subscribe to Bill . I have all his videos and play them every now and then. Bill is giving a lot of names a run for their money. He's got the touch. Just like our friend Shakey in England

 Bent; you are so right about these two players; Shakey is one fabulous picker as Bill is definitely an excellent gifted man on our instrument. Both of these players have such a smooth style and great sound. The kind of player you can sit and really enjoy all night long. They grow on you, correct. Bent, I know that Shakey surely thinks the world of you, as many of us do. Keep their playing talents coming to us on the forum..Bernie

| oh and while we're on the subject..bruce showed me some cool stuff one day while playing a ricky skaggs gig...i had gone to the bathroom and when i came back, bruce was trying to pick up my girlfriend..so he had to talk to me as a steel player...i still use what he showed me! thanx bruce! |

I just listened to Bill's version of Moonlight Serenade. What impeccable timing, smoothness and interpretation
Maybe someday my ears, hands and musical soul will allow me to play like that.

I feel the same way.
By coincidence, just a couple of days ago I listened to my LP of Ricky Skaggs's "Waitin' For the Sun To Shine" album for the first time in a long while, and was particularly reminded of the perfect, for my taste, application of reverb and delay on Bruce's steel.
These clips have too much effects, IMO, but he's a very good player. |

| You know it's amazing, we all seemed to enjoy Bill Suttons talent but little is known about him. He is 56 years old and has been around for sometime .Somebody is bound to have seen him out playing somewhere . He's too good on that steel to only played in the house all his life .I enjoy his playing so much that I would travel just to hear him play live . Ron |

| Ron: If you will come to the steel convention in Kannapolis, NC, you'll probably see Bill but probably won't hear him. He lives in this area. Several of us have tried to talk him into playing, but haven't succeeded yet. He just dosen't like to play in front of a crowd. I had shot the breeze with him at the shows for several years, thinking he was just a half_ _ _ player like me. When I heard him on U-Tube I just about dropped my teeth! I have a whole new respect for Mr. Bill Sutton! |

| Keith , thanks a million for the information on Bill Sutton .I respect Mr. Suttons privacy, but good Lord he could rattle anybody's cage with his talent .Hopefully someday he will share that talent on a wider playing field for all of us to enjoy more . I'm interested in that steel convention in N.C. If you could give me some details I am going to make that trip from Kentucky . Nothing I would like better than to talk with Mr . Sutton .
