I just got an old National double eight which is missing one of the control knobs. On the volume knob on the right it has a white round knob but the one for tone is missing. Some I've seen have a "chicken head" type of knob on there. Is that supposed to be a three position swith for tone or what? Here's some
shots of the guitar
.........Thanks, JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Jerry - I've got an English Electronics (Valco) doubleneck from about the same era -- maybe a bit newer because it has 1/4" jack instead of amphenol connector. Same body shape, fingerboard style, key covers, etc. Both knobs are white and round with the black dot. The 3-way switch on mine is a neck selector (front-both-back) |

Hey D, thanks for that link. It stated that it had a 3 way tone switch marked Bass, Mellow, and Brilliant. That's exactly what mine has so I'll go with that..............JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |
