I'd say $75-$100, with maybe a bit more for an "F" model. The non "F" models won't handle as much power, so they seem to bring less on the used market right now. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the D140 JBL was a bass speaker. I had one in a Super Reverb amp back in the 60's.

Edit: Many who restore amps will overpay just to get the "right" speakers to complete an amp. |

FWIW, back in the middle 90's I bought assorted JB Lansing speakers from a local guitar shop. There was a D140, reconed to 130 specs....a Peavey lableled 4 ohm JBL 130 and a K130 They were all recones and priced at $125 ea. The guy sold them to me for $350 because I took them all. I turned them all over for a modest profit.
[edit: A correction is in order. The memory is failing, I guess. I found the old receipt..it was 3 speakers, less the latter mentioned D130, not 4 and the asking price was reduced from $375 [125 ea] to $350 for the trio.]
You might want to check out current prices on eBay or craig's list, but IMO, you'd be hard pressed to find any of the D series drivers at Donny's estimate. While probably reasonable worth, I'll take all I can get at that price in good original condition. I'd be the last person to wanna drive up the value of these old speakers, but I'd have to say, in my experience, $150-175 is a more realistic expectation for original condition Lansings of this era.
A local used gear store had a pair of D140's with awful looking reconed baskets priced at $399 for the pair. |

I had a D140 and used it for a while in a two speaker set. Used a D120 for the highs and the D140 for the lower freqs. Eventually, had the D140 reconed to a D130 by a local JBL re-coner in Houston (with JBL cone!). Worked great for all around.
Price? Are these made anymore? If you buy one and want it reconed with a JBL cone to a D130, you will probably have to pay ~$150 -$200 for that.
It all depends on what you are willing to pay.
Thanx,
Jim |

Are Scotty's JBL reconed using JBL parts or generic? You can get the cheaper generic that work, but are not the same soundwise.
The JBL parts are the big expense, not the labor.
