Hi All,

Last night I recorded this Gypsy Jazz tune called
"Made in France" composed by Bireli Lagrene probably the best French Gypsy Jazz guitarist since Django Reinhardt. A kind of fast-paced valse. I can hardly sustain the speed by lack of practice, but I wanted to give it a try.
The guitar is a Yamaha AEX500NS solid body Nylon strings acoustic electric. I bought it about 3 years ago and used it twice. Wrong guitar for this kind of tune. Havn't changed the strings since, hence it was impossible to tune.
Also lots of misses on the upper strings due to the
nylon (hard to pick).
I found a superb version by a jazz group on Youtube, and I used it as a backing track by reducing the flute and the guitar.
I hope you like it:

CrowBear Schmitt,

Glad to see a French hanging in here. I would love to attend the Samois Festival.

HowardR,

Amazing performance. My prestation pales in comparison. I should have taken more time and lenghtened the impro part, but it was too late at night and I get up at 4:30 AM to go to work.
I would redo it if I could find a backing track.

Blessings,
Abel

Abel,
the Samois Festival is wonderful. I've been there many times. If you ever get the chance go to Samois.
If you love gypsy swing that is the spot.

Hi Thomas,

I think it's in June, I hope I can make it this year.
If not, it will be Shadowmania in UK in September.

Hi Scott,

You are right, it's steel player's section and if the manager wants to remove the thread, it's fine with me.
I am glad you mentioned "Rob Ickes", I didn't realize he was the Dobro player on the Youtube video
posted by HowardR in this thread. Absolutely amazing. I checked some of his tunes on Youtube and was very impressed.
I hope h' ll pick up a Pedal steel one day and do
wonders.
Checked out your website too. Fascinating with tons of great music and singing.

Blessings,
Abel

Abel,

Shadowmania is new to me. Great.
I met Hank Marvin in Samois servel times in the last years. He is a Django fan.
