Who are these two steelers? The guy in the back looks like a young Doug Jernigan and the guy in front looks like a young Woody Allen. Very Happy I used to love this style of Steel Pickin.... and still do. Glad I found this guys site with a lot of these old video's.

Rick, the guy in the back is Howard White, don't know the other one, though.

Kind Regards, Walter

Good guess, Pete! Yep, that's Stu alright, playing my old Fender 1000, with Paul Yandell on lead and O'Dell Martin on bass.

I'd guess that's about 1963.

Time flies, it sure don't seem like 45 years ago. Sad

Yes it is Stu. What a great player and a nicer guy you'll never meet. Bobby

The guitar player, playing Gretsch guitar behind Kitty, with the flat top haircut, is Paul Yandell. The bass player is another great guitar player Odell Martin. He played bass for Kitty for a while. Bobby

Leave it to one GREAT thumb picker (Bobby Caldwell) to recognize two other GREAT thumb pickers (Paul Yandell and Odell Martin). If anyone on the forum does not have Bobby's 2 thumb picking CD's, y'all need to get them. Trust me, I have them both.

I bought the Louvin Brothers cd set just to be have the Paul Yandell breaks. What a wonderful player. Go back and listen to his middle break on 'Don't Laugh'.

In June of '65 Johnny, Kitty and the Wright Family brought their show to the Fairgrounds in Tulare, CA. It was outdoor and the air was quite cool(poor pickers). Stu was playing for show that night and I saw my first Black Emmons with knee levers. In California, we didn't get many real Nashville players in our area and it was a treat and Stu was so great.

Donny did you have the Sho-Bud decal on your Fender? Looks like there is one on Stu's.

Yes, the decal was on there when I had it. The pickups were made by Sho~Bud, so that sorta made it "allowable". Mr. Green
