| My friend has a Cromwell lap steel. Nice wood, six strings. Looks to be a 30's model. I think Gibson put it out. Any more info and it's worth would be appreciated. It looks to be in VG-Excellent condition. |

Eric,
The Cromwell lap steel was virtually the same as the Recording King models of that era. They had pearshaped bodies and bar pickups very much like the Gibson EH-100, although the EH-100 pickup housing is rectangular and the Cromwell is oval. The finish was more detailed than other second line Gibsons. I think they're much less common than the similar Recording King and Kalamazoo lap steel models. I have only seen one or two in the last 15-20 years. If it sounds and looks great and has a good original case, it's probably worth $450-$550. |
