I got my new Remington yesterday. I really like this guitar as it is very similar to the old Fender I played years ago.

Jim, that's beautiful! You're a fortunate man.
Love that custom corn silk finish, and the cool bar tray . .

Steelmasters are great guitars no doubt about it.

So . . what tuning do you have on it?

That is a beauty Jim.

I hope it give you years of good use. Herb does a great job with his steels. The one you have is also my favorite color.

To tell the truth, since I got my Remington everybody seems to think I'm a much better player than I was before. And why should I argue with them? Winking

the pic reminds me of my "Remington Rider" which is now 4 yrs old. A fine guitar that apparently Herb stopped making right after I bought mine.cc

Jim, that Remington is a very nice guitar but my eyes keep going to that OTIS* guitar leaning on the amp. That's not going to be for sale soon is it?

The guitar leaning on the amp is a Asher Electro Hawaiian Junior. I haven't decided yet if I am going to sell it but if I do I will list it on the forum.

The Remington has a George L and the Asher Hawaiian Junior has two Humbuckers with a 3 way pick up selector switch. The scale of the Asher is 25 inches. I am probably going to sell the Asher but want to think about it a little while.

If you do you I am afraid you will regret it very soon. That Asher is one of the finest steels made today.
Please wait at least six months, then come back and play it and then decide.

just my,

Jim, in what way is it like your old Fender? Tone? looks? feel?

The Steelmaster evolved from the Fender Steels. Herb Remington was one of Leo Fender's primary consultants in the development of both the Custom/Dual 8 Pro and the Stringmaster. Herb road-tested the early Fender prototype steel guitars in the 40s when he was with Bob Wills, and many features and modifications were a direct result of his input. He maintained a close relationship with Leo until Leo passed away.

When Herb designed and built the Steelmaster he instituted his improvements - the one piece body for the multi-necks, the bullet-proof Gotoh tuners, the relatively noise-free George L pickups, the scallop on the inside of the upper necks, the cool bar tray on the single neck, the custom finishes etc etc etc.

So it certainly could be said that the Steelmaster is a descendant of the Stringmaster.

Nobody has mentioned yet that Herb is a great guy to deal with. It seems he has no clue that he's anybody special.

Yes, I should have mentioned that. It was a pleasure doing business with Herb. It was just like talking to your next door neighbor. If he knows how special he is he hides it well.

Jim,
That is a "slick" little steel.
It would be my pick also.
Good Luck with it.
