Mark, there was no smiley attached there. You're right of course. You must know that F#m7 and A6 are enharmonic chords (that means they consist of the same notes). I don't know how things are now but for many years a certain tuning was known as Am7 in Hawaii and C6 here on the mainland. I called it F#m7 because of the positioning of the notes. You undoubtedly called it A6 for the same reason. Viva la difference. And thanks for the correction. The tuning could be called either F#m7 or A6. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

Perhaps we need to go to Hawaii on a research trip! Thats interesting the different names. I thought this tuning unusual in that it skipped the A string between the F# and the C#. Otherwise it looked like C6 tuned down a minor third.
I mainly play dobro and G tuning but I do have a steel in C6. Its a head scratcher to go back and forth. Oh and then if I try E9 I have to really think. |

My gosh. One tuning is all I can handle (C6). I can get two weeks off work for this research trip in early September. Can I rely on you to get the tickets? _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

Perhaps a "modified" A6. All of the A6 tuning I am familiar with are: (top to bottom)
E,C#,A,F#,E,C#,A,F#,E,A |
