Just perusing ebay, and I saw an MSA "RED Baron" up for auction. A close look at the photo reveals what appears to be serious damage to the changer area (looks like it's been dropped or run over by a fork-lift). Seller says..."EVERYTHING works perfect on it and it's in pretty good shape."
I guess he don't know much about steel guitars. |

Everything is in good shape. Did you get a load of that fret board. Someone looks like they scratched there nails on it. $300.00 dollar bid? What people will pay for stuff on EBAY!!!! |

I had one of these models for my first steel.
The tone on them will make you cry, and not for joy.

I also started with "The Baron". The best upgrade you can do to it involves a can of gas and a lighter. |

This is just my opinion ONLY,But I have always thought it was kind of deceptive for brands such as MSA or SHO-BUD to put their names on guitars such as the Red Baron or Maverick,it gives the impression to a beginner that does not have a clue, that they are getting a REAL guitar, just because it has Sho-bud or MSA on it.The same goes for CHEAP,CHEAP,COPYS of a tele, strat,SG,etc, they are NOT the real thing even if they look the same.DYKBC. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. A friend had a Red Baron that I messed with once. It looked like the plastic which the changer mounted on became deformed by the string tension. I don't know if all Red Barons do this, but I wasn't too impressed myself.
I got it to play decently and sound somewhat believable though...
C. Christofferson had only one of those for a long time - I guess he has a Cougar now - and let me just say... That guy is smokin', so apparently it works good as a student model. |
