We held our first meeting of the Vancouver Island Steel Guitar Association (VISGA) today (Sunday) and all who attended would attest at the interest and enthusiasm shown for future events.
It's going to be a very informal kind of meeting with local steel players on the Island - 35 for now and more coming out of the woodwork.
It's main thing is to let people know that there is a wealth of knowledge amongst all the guys here on the forum plus the local guys's experiences of playing jobs and just projecting the steel image.
I know that there are many folk who have family or friends living elswhere who come here for vacations or who have family etc..that play or just "mess" with steels.
They would all be welcomed.
If anyone might be interested in coming over for a visit to see what it's all about and possibly coming up with ideas that we could all use I'm sure he/she would be more than welcomed.

Anyone needing a contact for first timers could e-mail me at:- britbike@islandnet.com

Hi there Guys,
Yes Wayne who knows, you could bring along some of your goodies to show off to the guys and metion that another way of selling your nice seats would be to sell them in kit form.
Looking forward to seeing you again on this side of the water.

Tony, it would be surely great to see you and talk .... and..... well come on over and see!! If our Meech could be persuaded to visit then we'd be laughing so much we'd have to get shares in an underwear store -she did say she'd like to visit someday.

Don, we'd all look forward to seeing you again. I'm sure that your newly aspired "steel guitar meeting expertese" would go down very well.

For all those interested, the meetings will always be on the second Sunday in any month despite how many there are as this seems to coincide with national holidays etc.
It is close to Nanaimo Airport and the ferry terminal is only minutes away too.
For those of you who have never been here for a visit to B.C. and especialy the Island they're in for a treat when their feet touch this place.

Wayne and the rest of the guys - I'm sorry but I should have posted the address of the meeting place.
It'll be at the Cassidy Mobile Home Park Comunity Hall, 1572 Seabird Rd. Nanaimo.

Going south, Approx. 10klm south of Nanaimo, and just south of the Airport, turn right at stoplight on Timberlands Rd. You will see the park on the right.
The hall is the yellow building on the corner of the 2nd entrance to the park.

Mark it down in your notebooks and see ya' there.
All the best.

Yes Parker was there along with seven other steel pickers and one good 6 stringer in the guise of Pat Babcock.
