A good thing we all don't see things alike or we'd all be like a box of pencils. Having said that, I'll pass along my wife and my favorite sound at the show --

On friday morning, Johnny played his set on a 1968 ShoBud "Permanent" owned by the Jackson brothers.
Of coarse he could get great tones out of a 2 X 4 board but even so, this was quite a team and simply rolled the time back to the 60's and 70's Nashville sound for us and sent chills down our backs. My wife said "Dad, we gotta find out who owns that and take it home with us" I smiled and said "Forget it hon, I didn't bring the gun with us" - Smile

I have only heard Johonny play at the Dallas and St. Louis and he has never played better than he did this time. I don't believe it was just the ShoBud. To me, he is playing with greater feeling. I hope I explained it right.

That Sho~Bud that Johnny was playing sounds great in a Honky Tonk too, last Wednesday night Linda and I went down to Pearl's in Ft. Worth and saw Johnny playing steel for Tommy Hooker<<< Jake's Dad!!!!!.

And let me tell you, it was one shuffle after the other and Johnny was playing them all on this Old Sho~Bud and it was GREAT!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words. The guitar actually is a 1967 that belongs to my fiend Kevin Owens. Kevin brought it to me in parts 9 years ago and said if I could get it together I could play it as long as I like. I put it togeter with the few parts I had and Harry Jackson the original builder finished for me.

This thread is wonderful, I'm wishing I could hear him in play these old original Sho_Buds in person like I did when he was a kid in Nashville.

I am a great lover of these original guitars and feel the future is very bright for investment returns also, as is the case with Bigsby and Emmons P-P guitars.

PLUS, they play and sound good, beautiful, and loaded with heritage. Exclamation

Bobbe
