Does anyone have any experience toying with different effects? I've always wondered how certain sounds were created. One in particular is a guitar effect that was used on the original "Six Days On The Road" by Dave Dudley. There's probably some way to analize the signal wave lenth or some such technical stuff that I don't begin to understand.
When people start talking about perameters and milliseconds my eyes just glaze-over. Uh, do what?
If you can figure out how they made that guitar sound like that, I'd like to try it on steel. Thanks
in advance for any help. Tommy A.

Tommy, I believe that was all done with technique, not with "gadgets". Jimmy Colvard played that stuff, as I understand, by pulling the strings up and letting them snap back against the fretboard, like most bassplayers do nowadays. Since we have no fretboard close to the strings to give you that "snap", you'd be hard pressed to make the same sound effect on a steel or Dobro.

Donny, you could be right about that, but I'm going to listen to it again first chance I get. I suspect there might be a little of something to make it go DOINK! like that. Tommy

Tommy, here's a video of Dave Dudley singing it. This was discussed on here before and if you do a search for it, it might explain it. Ray
