I love my cat, but I now have a couple holes in the vinyl of the seat part of my GFI seat. Has anyone done this? Is is difficult, or do I need a new seat soon? Nothing wrong with the rest of it, but it looks a little cheesy onstage.

Hello Michael,

Since you do have a cat, you may want to use cloth to re-upholster your pac-a-seat. Check with one of the pac-a-seat builders for information.

I've built several seats - used vinyl, formica and carpet (the same thing that is used for speakers, cases, etc). The carpet seems to be the most rugged. Don Sulesky has a seat I built about 15 years ago and the outside carpet covering looks like it's still new.

This is the seat Jack made which I have owned for more than 7 years. It's as good as anything I've seen on the market.

So, do I need any special tools? Just yank off the vinyl and restaple with any old staple gun?

Glue the sides and depending on how you do it on the ends it can be stapled underneath. My seats, as the picture Don shows, has aluminum moulding all around (and notched and mitered for a perfect fit), I don't know how yours is assembled but I'd just use glue where you can - use the aerosole can spray type glue and spray both the carpet and the wood for a "permanent" stick.

You'll find that carpet or canvas will be much more comfortable than vinyl.

Mine was just ugly and uncomfortable so I took it to a shop that did hot rods to Ferrari's and got the seat rolled and pleated with piping like a '57 Chevy! Worth every penny I paid (actually it was quiet a few!)

Picture to follow this pm...

Now, Chuck, that's low. My cat, Chub Chub, is the bestest kitty in the world. Come to think of it, though, he's kinda made a mess of my Mullen case, too. But I've learned how to cover that up when it's in the house. So, I'll pretend you didn't say that and make sure he's not in my lap when I'm reading this. Oh, yeah. He reads.
