I just lowered my Carter 1", took the legs out to the shop knocked out the end plugs with a pipe, cut the top of the inside leg off 1 " knocked it back in, cut the pull rods of to the proper length. olay now it fits like a glove. This is not a step by step process there are things tto consider as cleaning the cut off part, may have to glue the insert, mine was to tight already. Put a screw on the pull rod to clean threads after cutting. Or run the die over them.
I am not very smart but I did it, ask anyone that knows me they will agree if I can do it you can.

Ernie, good job. Not too hard if someone really wants to do it and has a couple of tools. |

Jack it is much cheaper to do than to buy new legs. If you had to buy a vice and dies it would cost much less. A pack of dies are are less than $10.00, a vice big enough about $20.00, hack saw bout $5.00.
How much are legs and pull rods over a $100.00.
Pack seat $300.00 pluss.

Ernie,
Next time you do this , find a local plumber in your area ...They have a pipe cutter with rollers that will give you a nice clean , even , cut on the legs .... Us plumbers are usually a nice bunch, and will be glad to cut them for you right there on the spot ...It only takes a couple of minutes ...Jim |
