That looks like a pro model. The changer can handle it (after all, they did make D-10 guitars with C6th). It probably only has 2 string pulls on each pedal, so you would need some additional parts for the pedals that have 3 or 4 pulls. There are a few guys here that have those parts.
I have to admit, I have never seen a ZB finished like that. I mean, I've seen the jeweled aluminum, but not as a front apron.

| I think this is a student model & I think Fred Justice had this for sale several months ago. As I remember he redid the knee lever connections, but I am not sure with the pictures shown. |

That IS a student model, though nicely enhanced with that swirly chrome finish. Normally they're matte black painted metal frames with a fiberglass covered wood neck insert. This one looks nice, but I had one years ago, serious detuning problems. And adding enough pedals to play C6, Bill, would probably be way more trouble than it's worth. Imho.

I wasn't aware that ZB made an 11 string student model. But, looking at the pics again, I see the metal front and back aprons.

| This is a ZB student model. I am a ZB player. If I was going to play strictly C6th thats not the guitar I would try to do it on. Its mechanicly limited. |

That's a strange one. It might have been a one off special order as a student, as the serial number say "s" at the end. As far as I know the student models didn't come with 11 strings only 10. The buffed body (the aluminum) used to be on specially ordered pro model endplates, I've seen some over here in the U.K. Looks a good guitar though, especially with Grovers. The student models sounded great.

One of my current students had a nice looking black student ZB with 3+4, amazingly. It sounded great, but the neck sagged something fierce, he could never keep it in tune, so he sold it and is tickled pink playing a nice SD-10 Mullen now. You can never go wrong with a model from the early 90's on. I did see one much older, probably from the 70's, that was a complete wreck. Seeing that Mullen, and comparing it with my 1991 D12, the RP's, and now the new G2's, I'm amazed how far that guitar brand has advanced.

I don't know if this is related to the Student on
E- Bay but there appears to be a Student on our
dealers price list of 1980 called a Starmaker. Now
according to the discription it had a brushed finish,
now I never saw one and don't even know if Eric imported any so I really can't throw anymore light on
it. Perhaps Micky or Ken can add anything.

Hi Frank me old mate  Boy you sure keep those old brochures Not sure if Ken Byng will see this as I think he's winging his way off to Dallas then Nashville. I'm depping with Ridgeway Country his band the next 2 saturdays. Am at Butlins Minehead this saturday, just a 1 hour spot 7 till 8 As I said before, that "could" have been a special order for having 11 strings. Re the finish on the aluminum I'd only seen a couple that Eric had imported. Hey send some Greek sun over to us. Now I know why you emigrated. Freezing here

| Bill, I'm no expert, but the general concensus is that a C6th guitar should have 5 floor pedals and 3 to 4 knee levers. If you want full (modern) capabilities with minimum hassles, I suggest you look for one that is already equipped that way. |

I am beginnig to think that none of those "Starmakers" ever got to the UK (Were they ever made ?).You never saw one , I certainly did'nt.
The only brushed/engraved steel I ever saw was yours
and very nice it was/is too !
ZB did make 11-string Students,Zane Beck did an album
called "Zane Beck Plays the New ZB Student and the
photo on the cover shows him sat at the helm of it.
I can't see them just making the one eh?

Frank, you're a mind of information I do remember that album by Zane Beck now. Re the engravings you mentioned, if it was mine you refered to.....I always leave my mark by hand engraving my steels, end plates and pedal racks. I did a few for others years ago. I was always good at drawing...if you can draw you can engrave If any British steelie want's any done, I'd be glad to oblige. I used to engrave the metal on Harley Davidsons when I was working for six months (Band work) in the States. I got to know some bikers...nice people and still probably riding around with my stamp on their bikes
