This is an outrage and an insult to Pee Wee King, Red Foley, Webb Pierce, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, and Hank Snow, who rightfully deserve these awards. |

It's the Academy of Country Music Awards not to be confused with Country Music Awards.
Did they list nominee's for musician of the year?
I prefer Kenny over Rodney. |

Earnest,it is an insult to think that they (ACM BOARD) could care less what you and I or anybody thinks, let alone us out here in California who's time and money helped build what these ( ACM BOARD) people are raping from our Neighborhood History from all the Night Clubs & Musicians who names build what it is almost today and that Mr. Dick Clark who helped us put the ACM on the MAP that Rac and others are killing and no respect for our real feelings in this Neighborhood,California. It's all about the Money not the art of Music or Artist. Life time Member of The ACM that I don't want to kill, but, they sure are,That ACM Board. Sincerely in Music,Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. PS; As Bill Boyd once said to me!Leo how dose it feel to know millions of people see you on T.V.,but,no body knows who you are.RIP Bill, and you're right! |

Whoops, thanks for pointing that out Theresa, I've corrected the title of the thread. I didn't even realize there were two different shows.
That of course leads me to a question:
What's the difference between the CMA's and the Academy of Country Music awards? Is being nominated for one better than the other? They both seem to be celebrating the same body of work. _________________ Patrick |

P,
The difference is the ACM is from the West Coast and gives awards to each musician. Bass, Drums, Steel, Guitar, Fiddle & Piano. I believe I'm correct?
CMA lumps them all together as one Musician of the Year Award. |

Yeah, Theresa, The ACM divides the musicians by instrument-like one for piano, one, for guitar, one for steel guitar, drums, and other instruments.

The operative word here is "country". Whoever constitutes the real meaning of this genre is probably living out of a van, playing mid-size venues and subsisting on a diet of hamburgers and gas station sandwiches. These awards have nothing to do with country. They just serve to drive the real country artists further and further down the totem pole by re-defining the genre through a corporate lie. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

I was defining the differences between the 2 Award shows. The musicians matter to me, no matter what.
I don't think it's crap. |

Earnest, what did you do with that smiley face?
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Anna Nicole Smith didn't get awarded posthumously for her contributions. |

Donny, that would have been her next step up the career ladder after reality T.V. Country music singer on CMT with videos. Hey, if Bon Jovi can do it, why not? Now thats country. |

Their is a different by names, but, both are run by the same bunch of people. That's what makes it crap, crappie people who could care less about the true Musicians and Artist. They are killing off the real independent small Labels who can't and will never get full board air play on Radio Stations to build a career as a Artist-Musician.If so,what Radio Stations are supporting Independent Labels,Show us their names and Call Letters and I bet we won't get much in this Country,United States for our own.Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. PS'I'm I bitter,no,but tried of the two face see an eye dogs. It's sad becuase I know who they are! Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. & Pigeons with no wings & legs now... |

Theresa, you can jes call me ole stick in the mud Dave.
Personally, I think the real travesty is that the Possum Hunters, Skillet Lickers, or Uncle Dave Macon weren't even mentioned once. It ain't REAL country music without a frailin' b@njo, is it? |

I agree with Theresa. I always like to see the hard-working musicians get their recognition. After all, without them, most of the records people buy would be acapella . |

Oh, I agree there. Do they even present those on the awards show? To my knowledge, they haven't even made the nominations for musicians yet. The 3/4/08 press release entitled "43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Final Nominations" has nothing on any of that, but states:

PLEASE NOTE: Nominees in the technical or off-camera categories will be announced later in March. You may check back at www.acmcountry.com for more information. |
Back to my nap, it's still winter up here. Wake me back up if something interesting happens. |
