I think that someone here broke the barrier towards our beloved Push-Pull sound.I had a talk with my very good friend Gary Rittenberry today and he pointed towards these two sound samples on Youtube.Bobbe Seymour plays two different Rittenberry steel guitars.A black one and a Green one.
Have a listen and judge yourself.....The sound in these Steel Guitars is beyond believe.
Gary will be in Dallas.

My LaGarritt, an earlier Gary Rittenberry built guitar, sounds alot like a push-pull as well.
Gary can build a fine guitar!!!

| I especially liked the sound of the green one. They look like nice instruments. But WHAT is the story on the cases? There's a case pictured under the Rittenberry on the 'Steel Guitar Nashville' site that looks like a close relative of a gig bag. |

Bobbe sounds great as usual.
The green one has a bit more "growl" to it.

Trust me Bill they are.I am playing a Rittenberry steel for quiet some time now and they are by far the easiest and best sounding steel guitars around.I have played many brands.....but this one is the best of all.And we all love that good 'ole Push Pull sound.
Besides the sound is the lever and pedal action outstanding.
My advice?.....order one....you will be very surprised of the tone.In fact...you will love it.

Bill, from what I understand the pro Rittenberry will have a Fred Justice case with it. Fred builds a great case, Beside,s he needs the money for his food allowance.

It probably doesn't have anything to do with Bobbe's playing but I will say that both those guitars sound darn good to me.
Are those pickups 705's? |

Perhaps it's my eyes, but it looked like Bobbe had finger picks on with the black guitar, and none on the green guitar.Slight tone difference I guess

The green guitar looks like or is the guitar Dennis Lee bought from BS. He brought it to my place to adjust, sounded very full and even top to bottom. Dennis was so impressed he ordered a D10. The underside was very clean and simple, great ideas.

Those steels sound great, but IMHO, not like a push/pull.
I really only chimed (bing!) in to make a joke about the dog and (edit:) her growl. That dog is ADORABLE.

Micky, I never wear picks, (except thumb).
Both of these guitars were played using the same amps, vol. ped., and cords.
Live in the room, there was no perceptable difference in the timbre or tone of these guitars. Seems like all the newer ones are incredible. Tone and playability is the finest.
Sure is nice to hear from you Englanders!
P. Gleespen, Yes, it's hard to argue, and you'll admit that it's nice to see an all-pull that can compete with a P-P. Just comparing the two is a great compliment to the Rittenberry.

AND,,,,,,,,,,,, The Dog is 3 months old we guess, I found her running down the interstate highy in heavy traffic, I blocked the traffic and she came running to my car, I'll keep her 'til the end of her natural life, or mine!
She is an exceptional and cute mutt. She loves cats and plays with them all day (and night!).

P.Gleespen, I'm crazy alright, and the drivers I caused a slight delay for have already forgotten the 2 minuet delay, but I'd have been in pain for years if I'd seen her run over. This way I have the great pleasure of spending her life and the rest of mine in great happiness. I know you are kidding, but I DO see your point.

Thank you for your nice response, I'll tell her about it when I get home and pick up all the papers she will have torn up.  
She is playing better now, has her picks built in, what'll they think of next.

| The late Harold Flynn invented a push-pull changer and all-pull undercarriage. He built several of these in the 70s and 80s under the Walton brand name. They played great. When I bought the Flynn Pedal Steel company in 2002,including rights to the Walton inventory, I found the complete plans and drawings for the Walton in his files. Also, a good number of parts for it was in the collection, including two changer mechanisms and a number of bell cranks. I hope to build a few of them this year. |

We need some diversity in this field.
Steven Silver,,,The Boss settings on the DD-3 are : Two echo repeats, first one a little louder than the second one, which is very faint.
As you hold the unit in your hand upright, the first knob is at the 9:00 position, second knob: 11:00, the third knob: 2 O'clock,,,, the forth knob on 800.ms. These are approx but pretty close
