Yes indeed we did visit Mike in SESSION at QUAD. Mike ,along with his session mates treated us like old friends. Think about it, walking in knowing nobody and walking out 3 hours later with a dozen new friends. Clearly Mikes style.

The session was for a real kool gal from the midwest doing a 12 song self published Christmas CD, and it rocked ! She owns a Restaurant and Barn Dance facility and she sells the heck out of her CD's ! I think she told us this was her 4th CD.

Maggie Mae's (cafe), she too was really on her game and also just hung out with us like we were actually supposed to be there.

Guys and gals, Mike and these Session cats are one takers , they listened to a tune, talked about it, arranged it ,then just did it, ALL at the same time.

The control room engineers, Denny and Matt also treated us like old time friends. I asked Denny about multiple takes and overdubs, which can easliy be accomplished with PRO TOOLS, but he just said, "Nah we don't do that ,we basically do one or maybe two takes and move to the next song. Thats what these guys do, thats why they are here".

It was a real pleasure to meet Mike and it is a real testimony to this forum for opening up the world, thanks to b0bby Lee.

oh yeh, Mon night we did go over and see the Time Jumpers with PF, not a bad day I would say..

Ok Mike, I'll keep the Grill hot for when you come to Charlotte...

Thanks Sam, likewise, hope to see you again soon as well.

Good eyes, I'll let Mike describe that Sho-bud, it's quite the Steel. It's not your everyday SB.

Tony, wow, you got this up quick! I figured you'd have to wait to get home first. Thanks for the kind words and the pic. I'm so glad you had a fun day, and it was such a pleasure to meet you both. It's not often that I get to share with someone the real meat and potatoes of what we do here, and I'm really glad you got the peek on the inside. For a matter of record, the other players were:

Mike Chapman, bass and session leader
Chris Leuzinger, lead guitar
Mark Casstevens, acoustic
Sam Corley, piano
Glen Duncan, fiddle
Tommy Wells, drums...
and what was that steel player's name? I know it as well as my own... Laughing

Oh, and that Sho-Bud; there's great pics of it in the photobucket link in my sig line. It's my favorite guitar, to be sure... a '75 "Coop" de Ville!

How did you guys like Maggie Mae? I see her quite often in Sandstone at the Midwest Country Theater, and she is a real live wire. She is a pretty good singer, real country!

Maggie is a friend of mine and she is really trying hard to make it in this crazy business. The only thing that I think she has against her is her age. Sometimes that can even be overlooked. She has a pretty good resturant too.

I think Mr Douchette can be a live wire at times, and with Maggie Mae, that must have been a fun 3 hours.

Craig, Maggie is a fine country singer, and I wish her all luck in the world, but real country music is tough to make it in. Just hope she don't go the way of watered down R&R.

I never got the feeling from Maggie that she was attemting to make a BIG carrer in Music, just another CD to sell at her main venues which is her Restaurant and Barn Dances.

There is a lot of ways to make cash in Music, being an "A" list artist is only one of them.
