I'm off work for 2 months and my brother-in-law loves Texas. He is retired and lost his wife awhile back and we are gonna leave before long and take the Souther route thru Nashville and stop and have Paul Sr. to go over my Franklin. Probably be in Nashville a couple days and then head for Texas. Not sure where all we will go. If you Steel guitar pros will Email me and let me know The City and name and address of where you are playing we may drop in on ya. Also if you know of any good places to chout in Texas let me know this also.
Thanks, Gary.

Hey Gary,
It would be great to see you!
I don't know your arrival times but we play at Tra's Country 12130 O'Connor in San Antonio on 02/23/08 9-1. A steel player named Dale Thomas from Iowa may be out that night also. We play at the Glen Rose Rodeo the next week-end on Sat April 1st. That's near Ft. Worth. You don't want to miss the music scene in Ft. Worth. You might run into Johnny Cox and lots of others. Are you making this trip in conjuction with the Texas Steel Guitar Show? If you are I'll see you there for sure. I'm always looking for someone jammi' in a room there so I can try to steel their licks.LOL. OOPS. Glen Rose is on March 1st.

Give me a call when you get near. Cell 210 885-7657.

If you're gonna be around Austin, the 'Rodeo Austin' thing goes on from Feb. 29-Mar.15. Info here:
http://www.rodeoaustin.com/

I think they have cows and stuff....

There's a 'name' music act after the rodeo every nite in the arena, but there's also an outdoor stage with music during the day. At the 100x club (it's really a big tent, and I think it's members only) there is late night music after the rodeo 'star' finishes, usually 10PM or so until 2A. Caveat: If you go to the rodeo, check the music act for the night, some are not country, since they try to appeal to a wider audience.

Of course there's a few bands around Austin you might want to catch while you're in the area, and I'm sure those guys will chime in.

EDIT:
Just checked to see who's playing the arena this year, and it's predominantly country, w/Willie Nelson, George Jones, and Gretchen Wilson among others on the bill.. oh yeah, Styx on March 6. Gotta wonder what their agent was thinking... Smile

I'll be in the 100x club with Greg Caldwell on Mar. 13 and Bobby Pounds on Mar. 15.
