Herb and Lucky O with Cornell Thursday

Yes, a reunion with my dear friend of 30 years, Lucky Oceans, will take place at Jovita's Mexican Restaurant this Thursday (4/11), as we play twin steels with the Cornell Hurd Band.

Lucky, a resident of Australia for 20+ years, makes few trips to the States. But his daughter, Ray Benson, and assorted friends live here and so when he comes stateside, this is one of the stops. The cognoscenti here in A-town will take heed and make their way to Jovita's for a grand jam session.

The sit-ins with Cornell have been exceptional lately. Last week we were honored by the tenor saxophonist who plays with Les Paul sitting in with the band... an awesome 27-year-old Italian woman named Ada Rosati. If you can imagine a beautiful Italian babe who plays tenor like King Curtis, Lester Young, and Ben Webster sitting in with a western swing/jump blues band like Cornell's, you can imagine the incredible fun we had that night.

The evening with Lucky will be no exception I'm sure. Be there, or be square. No levi's or capri's, please. We will make exceptions for the clothing, however.

To bad I will pass up another chance to share dinner with Lucky O. The night back in 1996 in Vegas I did not feel worthy of the honor of a late meal with Lucky and a high school buddy of he and Ray's.
